Job Title: Registered Dental Hygienist

The Registered Dental Hygienist, working under close supervision, will collaborate with the Dentist(s) to meet the oral health needs of patients. This is a grant-funded position at the Guilford Adult Health Dental Access Program, providing dental care to uninsured individuals. Responsibilities include reviewing patient health histories, conducting oral cancer screenings, and performing exams to assess oral health conditions.

Talent Pool: Allied Health

1. Assist in establishing the patient's oral health condition by reviewing health history, providing oral cancer screenings, conducting head and neck inspections, taking x-rays, and other procedures compliant with the Dental Practice Act.
2. Document oral health evaluations, prophylaxis, and dental charting in patient records to aid in diagnosis and treatment planning.
3. Educate patients on oral hygiene practices such as brushing, flossing, and nutritional counseling.
4. Practice universal precautions and follow sterilization and infection control procedures to meet safety standards.
5. Review patient medical and dental records as required by the North Carolina Medical/Dental Examiner’s Office to ensure documentation accuracy and appropriateness of services.
6. Perform other duties as reasonably assigned.

Minimum Education and Experience

• Education: Associate's degree
• Experience: At least 1 year of experience; experience with electronic medical records (EMR)

Licensure and Certification

• State-registered Dental Hygienist
• BLS (CPR) certification from American Red Cross or AHA Healthcare Provider
