Dental Hygienist Responsibilities

• Promote dental health through prophylaxis, screenings, radiographs, and procedures per the Dental Practice Act
• Prepare patients for treatment by welcoming and seating them
• Answer patient and staff questions
• Maintain and sterilize instruments
• Evaluate oral health to select appropriate materials and equipment
• Perform dental prophylaxis and detect diseases through screenings and radiographs
• Apply fluorides and cavity-preventing agents to arrest decay
