Key Responsibilities
Conduct initial oral screenings and review patient dental and health histories to assess risks and inform treatment plans.
Perform dental cleanings, including removing plaque, calculus (tartar), and stains from teeth using specialized instruments.
Apply preventive materials such as fluoride treatments and dental sealants to help protect teeth from decay.
Take and develop dental radiographs (X-rays) and impressions for study models.
Educate and motivate patients on proper oral hygiene techniques, including brushing, flossing, and the importance of nutrition for oral health.
Screen patients for signs of oral diseases such as gingivitis, periodontitis, and oral cancer, and report findings to the dentist.
Assist the dentist during various procedures and provide post-operative care instructions to patients.
Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records, including documentation of treatments and findings.
Sterilize and maintain dental instruments and ensure compliance with infection control protocols.
Manage supplies and assist with general office tasks as needed.
Skills and Qualities

Associate Degree from an accredited Hygiene program.
