Big Smiles, a leading in-school dental program, seeks a Registered Dental Hygienist to serve Jackson, MS and surrounding areas. This role focuses on preventive care for underserved children at school sites with a 6–7 hour school-day schedule, no evenings or weekends.

• Must hold an active RDH license.
• Working experience as a Registered Dental Hygienist.
• Valid driver license, reliable transportation and willingness to travel to schools across counties.
• Works well with others (children and adults).
• Current CPR (BLS) certification.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.

Responsibilities

• Assist with oral health management of all patients – be a team player at all times.
• Verify the identity of patient using name and date of birth prior to administering treatment, and place initials on chart.
• Obtain oral health assessment of each patient (new-baseline; follow-up).
• Review medical history and other pertinent oral health information.
• Provide oral hygiene services including prophylaxis scaling, sealant and fluoride applications.
• Provide dental assistance as directed by the dentist.

Registered Dental Hygienist Qualifications

• Must hold active RDH license
• Working experience as a Registered Dental Hygienist
• Valid driver license, reliable transportation and willingness to travel to schools across counties

Registered Dental Hygienist (RDH) Responsibilities

• Assist with oral health management of all patients – be a team player at all times
• Verify the identity of patient using name and date of birth prior to administering treatment, and place your initials on the medical chart indicating that verification was made
• Obtain oral health assessment of each patient (new-baseline; follow-up patient)
• Review medical history and other pertinent oral health information
• Provide oral hygiene services including dental prophylaxis scaling, sealant application and fluoride application consistent with accepted best practices and standards
• Provide dental assistance as directed by the dentist
• Provide oral health education and individual counseling to each patient according to known oral health care practices (e.g. tooth brushing, flossing)
• Document provided dental services on the patient’s chart
• Daily travel to and from school sites
