House of Smiles in the San Fernando Valley is seeking a friendly Registered Dental Hygienist to provide ongoing preventive care. You will work with a synergetic team to uphold the highest standard of care using modern technology.

The role requires a California RDH license, CPR/First Aid, X-ray certification, and strong patient communication. Part-time schedule: Wednesdays and Thursdays. In-person work with benefits such as employee discounts and a referral program.

Qualifications

• California RDH license (SLN not required) and CPR/First Aid certification.
• X-ray certification is required; laser certification is not required.
• Ability to perform scaling and root planing, take radiographs, and administer local anesthesia.
• Knowledge of cross-contamination prevention and infection control.
• Strong communication skills and ability to build rapport with patients.

Responsibilities

• Record evaluation of periodontal conditions and chart procedures to support diagnosis and treatment planning.
• Scale, polish, and apply fluoride to patients' teeth.
• Educate patients on preventive care and home care routines; provide literature and instructions.
• Evaluate gingival health and oral tissues, and perform oral cancer exams.
• Take radiographs as directed by the dentist.

Registered Dental Hygienist duties include, but not limited to:

• Records evaluation of periodontal conditions, occlusal relations and extent of prophylaxis on dental chart to ensure a complete diagnosis and proper treatment plan by the dentist.
• Scales, polishes, and applies fluoride to patient's teeth.
• Educates patients on the importance of preventative care, the disease process and the role of bacteria; provides appropriate educational literature and instruction on home care.
• Evaluates gingival health and health of all oral tissue.
• Performs oral cancer exam on all patients.
• Inspects patient's oral cavity and charts lesions, existing restorations and missing teeth.
• Takes radiographs as directed by the doctor.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

• Ability to perform scaling and root planning, take radiographs, and administer local anesthetic.
• Knowledge of cross contamination and how to prevent it.
• Ability to prioritize, organize, and complete tasks in a timely, and independent manner.
• Ability to accept constructive feedback.
• Ability to collect data, establish facts, draw valid conclusions, and maintain confidentiality.

Licenses/ Certificate:

• Current California RDH license with SLN
• CPR & first aid certificate

Schedule:

• Part time (Wednesday & Thursday Full Day)
• 40 hours of Sick Pay offered
