Position Overview

Smile 23 is seeking a skilled and compassionate Dental Hygienist to join our clinical team at Buckhead Dental Group located 3111 Piedmont Ave NE. This role is critical to maintaining our high standard of patient care and plays an essential part in promoting oral health through preventive services, patient education, and clinical excellence. The ideal candidate will be committed to delivering exceptional experiences and results, in alignment with our Michelin-star service model.

Minimum Requirements

  • Education: Associate’s Degree in Dental Hygiene from an accredited program
  • Licensing: Active, unrestricted state dental hygiene license
  • Experience: Minimum 2 years of clinical experience preferred
  • Skills: Strong communication, organizational, and clinical skills
  • Technical Proficiency: Familiarity with dental software (Dentrix, Open Dental) and intraoral scanning systems (iTero, CT, etc.)

Key Responsibilities

Clinical Care

  • Perform routine cleanings, periodontal maintenance, scaling, and root planing
  • Conduct comprehensive oral assessments, including cancer screenings and periodontal charting
  • Take x-rays, intraoral images, and annual digital scans

Documentation and Communication

  • Accurately document all treatments, findings, and patient interactions in the practice management system
  • Communicate findings and treatment needs to the attending doctor and administrative team
  • Ensure coding and charting are completed prior to patient checkout

Infection Control and Compliance

  • Follow all Smile 23, OSHA, and CDC sterilization and infection control protocols
  • Clean and disinfect the operatory after every patient and maintain instrument sterility
  • Assist in maintaining a safe and compliant clinical environment

Patient Education

  • Educate patients on proper oral hygiene practices and the importance of preventive care
  • Recommend and explain use of hygiene aids based on individual patient needs
  • Encourage consistent maintenance visits and compliance with treatment recommendations

Inventory and Maintenance

  • Monitor supply levels and assist in ordering hygiene-related materials
  • Maintain equipment including Piezo scalers, Airflow units, and imaging devices

Workflow Expectations

  • Greet and seat patients, ensuring comfort and building rapport
  • Review medical history and update dental concerns
  • Complete all diagnostics and charting before the doctor exam
  • Communicate handoff information clearly and accurately to the dental and administrative teams
  • Escort patients to checkout and ensure smooth clinical-to-admin transition

Professional Conduct and Team Collaboration

  • Adhere to daily operations including morning huddles, clinical checklists, and end-of-day duties
  • Exhibit professionalism, punctuality, and preparedness
  • Support team members and contribute to a positive, respectful work environment
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and fully stocked operatory

Growth and Continuing Education

  • Participate in annual performance reviews
  • Attend required continuing education and internal training sessions
  • Stay informed on advancements in dental hygiene technology and care standards
