Responsibilities

• Prepare treatment rooms by sterilizing dental instruments, setting up necessary supplies, and ensuring all equipment is functioning properly in accordance with dental sterilization procedures and infection prevention management policies
• Assist dentists chairside during a variety of procedures including oral surgery, and restorative procedures, providing four-handed dentistry support to enhance efficiency and patient comfort
• Take high-quality dental x-rays and medical imaging, ensuring proper technique while maintaining strict adherence to HIPAA regulations and radiation safety protocols
• Manage patient records using electronic medical records (EMR systems) such as Eaglesoft or Dentrix, ensuring accuracy and confidentiality of medical documentation and dental records
• Conduct vital signs assessments and medical documentation to support comprehensive patient care, especially for pediatric patients or those with special needs
• Educate patients on oral hygiene practices, post-treatment care instructions, and treatment plans while maintaining a compassionate approach to patient management software use
• Follow all clinical confidentiality policies while adhering to healthcare infection prevention and control standards, including dental instrument processing and aseptic techniques

Experience

• Proven 5 years of experience working as a Dental Assistant in a busy dental clinic environment with familiarity in general dentistry procedures
• Knowledge of dental terminology, dental equipment operation, and medical terminology relevant to dental practice
• Hands-on experience with dental x-ray technology, oral surgery assistance, endodontic procedures, prosthodontics, and pediatric dentistry is highly preferred
• Proficiency in using dental practice management software such as Eaglesoft or Dentrix for scheduling, record keeping, and patient management
• Strong understanding of infection control protocols including sterilization procedures, dental sterilization equipment operation, and healthcare infection prevention practices
• Ability to perform dental instrument processing efficiently while maintaining clinical hygiene standards
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively with team members including dental receptionists and other healthcare professionals
