Job Description

Glimpse of the Job: Join the Texas A&M College of Dentistry in the Comprehensive Dentistry Department as a Registered Dental Assistant! The successful applicant will bring experience and knowledge of general dental terminology while supporting a fast-paced clinical environment. This role requires professionalism, the ability to work in a high-volume setting, and flexibility in routine tasks. We invite qualified candidates to apply and become part of our team.

Part of the Texas A&M University Health Science Center, founded in 1905, our college is a leader in oral health sciences education, research, and patient care.

Minimum Required Qualifications
  • Dental Assistant I: High school diploma or equivalent, or combination of education and experience.
  • Dental Assistant II: High school diploma or equivalent, plus 2 years of dental assistant experience.
  • Dental Assistant III: High school diploma or equivalent, plus 4 years of registered dental assistant experience in a private practice, clinic, or training program.
Required Licenses and Certifications - For All Levels:
  • Registered Dental Assistant in Texas
  • CPR certified

The ideal candidate will possess knowledge of dental terminology, instruments, materials, procedures, and radiographic equipment. They should also be familiar with infection control, aseptic techniques, and equipment sterilization. Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills are essential, along with the ability to explain procedures and follow instructions.

*Compensation and classification depend on qualifications during recruitment.

Additional Information

Work Schedule/Location: On-site in Dallas, TX, Monday – Friday, 8 am to 5 pm.

Salary: Based on experience, starting at:

  • Dental Assistant I: $17.78/hour
  • Dental Assistant II: $19.56/hour
  • Dental Assistant III: $21.51/hour
Responsibilities:
  • Patient Care: Prepare treatment rooms, assist during procedures, schedule patients, handle inquiries, and provide chairside assistance, including four-handed dentistry.
  • Environmental Health Standards: Follow infection control procedures, sterilize instruments, and maintain cleanliness according to OSHA policies.
  • Medical Imaging: Take intraoral radiographs, assist with photographic records, and prepare materials following guidelines.
