Duties

• Assist dentists chairside during various procedures including general dentistry, prosthodontics, endodontics, and pediatric dentistry


• Prepare treatment rooms with necessary instruments and materials, ensuring aseptic technique and infection control standards are maintained


• Take and develop dental radiographs (X-ray) while adhering to HIPAA regulations for patient privacy and confidentiality


• Operate digital imaging systems such as 3D scanners and medical imaging tools to support diagnosis and treatment planning


• Manage electronic medical records (EMR systems) like Dentrix, Eaglesoft, or Epic to document patient information accurately and efficiently


• Monitor vital signs of patients when required and assist with medical documentation and coding for comprehensive care records


• Support front desk operations as a dental receptionist when needed, including scheduling appointments and verifying insurance details


• Ensure compliance with all infection control protocols, including proper sterilization of instruments and maintaining a clean clinical environment


• Educate patients on dental terminology, procedures, and post-treatment care to enhance their understanding and comfort

Requirements

• Valid certification as a Registered Dental Assistant with current licensure or registration as required by state law


• Proven experience in dental assisting within a general or specialty practice, including pediatric dentistry preferred


• Proficiency with EMR systems such as Dentrix, Eaglesoft, or Epic; familiarity with medical coding and documentation standards.


• We currently use OpenDental


• Knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, infection control practices, and aseptic techniques


• Ability to perform chairside assisting efficiently while maintaining high standards of patient care


• Experience operating X-ray equipment and understanding of medical imaging procedures


• Strong communication skills to interact effectively with patients, team members, and healthcare providers


• Knowledge of HIPAA regulations to ensure patient privacy at all times


• Familiarity with 3D scanners and other advanced dental technology is a plus
