$22.25-$30.75 / Hourly

Registered Dental Assistants perform a variety of patient care, office, and laboratory duties. The primary role of the Registered Dental Assistant (RDA) is to assist the dentist in gaining the patient’s commitment to the best possible treatment with urgency. Key duties include:

  • Utilizing x-ray time to promote the qualities of the dentist
  • Learning patient expectations and educating them with intra-oral pictures
  • Using effective chair-side skills
  • Supporting the dentist’s diagnosis after examinations

The RDA should follow procedures for compliance with safety regulations, infection control, and permitted duties.

Responsibilities

  • Assist the dentist to gain patient commitment for treatment
  • Participate in the Perfect Patient ExperienceÔ, focusing on patient needs and concerns
  • Maintain a clean, sterile, and welcoming environment
  • Complete x-rays and intra-oral pictures as directed by the dentist
  • Instruct patients on postoperative and oral health care
  • Sterilize and disinfect instruments and operatories per ADA guidelines
  • Comply with all relevant regulations (OSHA, HIPAA, etc.)

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED; required training courses for certification/licensing as per state
  • Certifications/licenses as mandated by state (e.g., radiograph, ultrasonic scaling, sealants)
  • Associate degree or equivalent preferred
