$23.50-$32.75 / Hourly

Registered Dental Assistants perform a variety of patient care, office, and laboratory duties. The primary role of the Registered Dental Assistant (RDA) is to assist the dentist in gaining the patient’s commitment to the best possible treatment, with urgency. Key duties include:

  • Assisting the dentist in starting treatment by utilizing x-ray time to promote the qualities of the dentist, learning patient expectations, educating them with intra-oral pictures, using effective chair-side skills, and supporting the dentist’s diagnosis.
  • Abiding by procedures for compliance with safety regulations, infection control, and permitted duties.

Responsibilities

  • Assist the dentist to gain patient commitment for treatment.
  • Participate in providing a positive patient experience by focusing on optimal treatment and addressing individual needs.
  • Maintain a clean, sterile, and welcoming environment; prepare patients and assist the doctors for efficient, quality treatment.
  • Complete x-rays and intra-oral pictures as directed by the dentist.
  • Instruct patients on postoperative and oral health care.
  • Sterilize and disinfect instruments, equipment, and operatories following ADA guidelines.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations (OSHA, HIPAA, Dental Board, etc.).

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED; required training courses for certification, licensure, or registration as per state regulations.
  • Certifications/licenses as mandated by the state (e.g., radiograph, ultrasonic scaling, sealant application).
  • Associate degree or certificate from an accredited institution, or equivalent experience preferred.
