Job summary

Norman Regional Health System is seeking a Hospital Dietitian to provide initial nutrition assessments and ongoing follow-up care to patients in a hospital setting.

You will educate patients and staff on nutrition, work with clinical teams, and perform other related duties as needed. A Registered Dietitian-Nutritionist in good standing is required, with licensure within six months of hire.

Qualifications

• Registration with the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics and Oklahoma State Dietitian license must be obtained within six months of hire, plus a food handler's permit as required by the county health dept.
• Approximately 15 hours of continuing education credits per calendar year to maintain current knowledge.
• Must be able to prioritize patient care safely and use nutritional formulas appropriately.

Qualifications

Education

• Required: Any program approved by the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics that leads to registration as a Registered Dietitian/Registered Dietitian-Nutritionist (RD/RDN). Basic knowledge of subspecialty area (including nutrition support, diabetes, cardiology, renal, oncology, etc.) Must obtain approximately 15 hours of continuing education credits per calendar year. Keep current of new findings/research.

Experience

• Preferred: Six months of clinical experience in an acute care facility preferred.

Licensure/Certification

• Required: Registration with the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics and an Oklahoma State Dietitian license must be achieved within the first 6 months of employment. Must obtain a food handler's permit from the Cleveland County Health department before hire (or within 1 week of hire). Completion of general and patient care orientation is required prior to providing patient care.

Other Knowledge/Skills/Abilities

• Required: Must be able to use decision making skills to make rational & quick decisions regarding prioritizing of patient care. Have the foresight to recognize unsafe work conditions and/or practices. The ability to safely use chemicals and equipment for the patients, visitors and staff. Knowledge base for use of different formula's when assessing patient's nutritional needs.
