Job summary

Norman Regional Health System is seeking a registered dietitian to perform initial nutrition assessments and ongoing follow-up for patients in the hospital setting.

The role includes providing nutrition education to patients and staff, collaborating with care teams, and handling other duties as assigned to support nutrition services. Candidates should have RD/RDN credentials and be prepared to obtain Oklahoma licensure within six months.

Qualifications

Qualifications

Education

• Required: Any program approved by the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics that leads to registration as a Registered Dietitian/Registered Dietitian-Nutritionist (RD/RDN). Basic knowledge of subspecialty area (including nutrition support, diabetes, cardiology, renal, oncology, etc.) Must obtain approximately 15 hours of continuing education credits per calendar year. Keep current of new findings/research.

Experience

• Preferred: Six months of clinical experience in an acute care facility preferred.

Licensure/Certification

• Required: Registration with the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics and an Oklahoma State Dietitian license must be achieved within the first 6 months of employment. Must obtain a food handler's permit from the Cleveland County Health department before hire (or within 1 week of hire). Completion of general and patient care orientation is required prior to providing patient care.

Other Knowledge/Skills/Abilities

• Required: Must be able to use decision making skills to make rational & quick decisions regarding prioritizing of patient care. Have the foresight to recognize unsafe work conditions and/or practices. The ability to safely use chemicals and equipment for the patients, visitors and staff. Knowledge base for use of different formula's when assessing patient's nutritional needs.
