Job summary

Children's Health of Carolina, PA is seeking a compassionate Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) or Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA) to join our Children's health Pembroke clinical team. This role supports providers in a fast-paced pediatric setting and requires a patient-centered approach.

The ideal candidate has pediatric experience, is quick to learn, and proficient with Athena EHR. Responsibilities include patient intake, minor procedures, immunizations, and coordinating care

Qualifications

  • RMA or CMA certification required.
  • Minimum 1 year in this role preferred.
  • Current BLS certification is required.
  • Experience with electronic health records and medical software.

Responsibilities

  • Welcome and assist pediatric patients.
  • Obtain health information and manage patient files in EHR.
  • Assist providers with examinations and minor procedures.
  • Record patient history, vitals, and collect specimens.
  • administer vaccines/medications under supervision.
  • Schedule appointments and coordinate labs and admissions.
  • Communicate test results to clinicians and families.
  • Guide patients through the facility and explain procedures.
  • Restock rooms and maintain sterile environment.

Description

We are seeking a compassionate and experienced Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) or Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA) to join our Children's health Pembroke clinical team. This role plays a critical part in delivering high-quality patient care while supporting providers in a fast-paced pediatric clinic environment.

  • Status: Full-time
  • Schedule: Monday – Friday, 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.
  • Rotating Saturdays: 9:00 a.m. – 12:00p.m. at the Urgent Care location - Lumberton

Registered Medical Assistant Responsibilities
  • Creating a supportive environment by welcoming and assisting patients.
  • Obtaining personal and health information, managing patient files, and updating electronic health records.
  • Assisting healthcare professionals with patient examinations and minor procedures.
  • Recording patient history. vital signs and collecting and preparing laboratory specimens.
  • Performing minor diagnostic tests and administering treatment under the supervision of healthcare professionals.
  • Administers medication/vaccinations/immunizations under the direction of a provider
  • Assisting with administration duties, including scheduling appointments, arranging laboratory services and hospital admissions, handling billing, and filing insurance claims.
  • Relaying diagnostic tests and assessment results to healthcare professionals.
  • Guiding patients through the facility, as well as explaining procedures and treatments.
  • Setting up and replenishing stock in examination and procedure rooms.
  • Sterilizing medical equipment and sanitizing designated areas.
Requirements
  • RMA – Registered with the American Medical Technologist (AMT) or CMA – Registered with the American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA)
  • RMA/CMA with a minimum of 1 years of experience in this role preferred.
  • Current Basic Life Support Certification (BLS)
  • Ability to work under supervision and monitor, report, and record a patient's condition.
  • Advanced record-keeping abilities and proficiency in related software, such as Athena.
  • Experience in clinical evaluation, specimen collection, immunizations, and administering minor treatments.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology and basic anatomy.
  • Ability to assist healthcare professionals with medical examinations and procedures.
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills to assist, guide, and reassure patients.
  • Proficiency in prioritizing tasks and performing under pressure.
  • In-depth knowledge of best practices in healthcare and sterilization protocols.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  • Confidential handling of patient information is required at all times.
  • Rotation of weekend clinics may be required.

Physical demands include frequent standing, walking, bending, reaching and lifting (babies and small children, etc.). Work conditions include contact with patients in controlled environment, potentially contagious diseases and possibly bloodborne pathogens.
