Job summary

US Pediatric Partners in Bluffton, SC, is seeking a Certified/Registered Medical Assistant (CMA/RMA) to support providers in pediatric patient workups, vital signs, specimen collection, and procedures within the scope of practice.

The role requires active CMA/RMA and CPR certifications, comfort with EMR systems, strong communication, independence, and a teamwork mindset to ensure safe, high-quality care and HIPAA compliance.

Qualifications

  • Active CMA/RMA certification required.
  • CPR certification required.
  • Pediatric practice experience preferred.
  • Experience with electronic medical records preferred.
  • Strong communication and ability to work independently.
  • Detail-oriented with deadlines management.

Responsibilities

  • Escort patients to exam rooms, interview patients, measure vital signs and document in the chart.
  • Instruct patients about medications and diets as directed by the physician.
  • Explain treatment procedures to patients.
  • Prepare patients for examination.
  • Assist the physician during patient exams.
  • Collect and prepare laboratory specimens; perform basic tests.
  • Maintain exam rooms and instruments; prepare sterilization.
  • Prepare and administer medications as directed.
  • Perform blood collection following OSHA precautions.
  • Remove sutures and change dressings.
  • Maintain logs and required checks (e.g., refrigerator temps).
  • Process messages from patients and front office staff to providers.
  • Meet position requirements and perform essential functions.
  • Complete mandatory training and other assigned duties.
  • Demonstrate service-oriented attitude and collaborate to coordinate patient care.
  • Identify, analyze and solve problems; adhere to policies.

What a Day Looks Like as a Certified/Registered Medical Assistant
  • Escort patients to exam rooms, interview patients, measure vital signs, and document all information in patient’s chart.
  • Instruct patients about medications and special diets as instructed by the medical provider.

  • Keep exam rooms stocked; maintain instruments; prepare sterilization as required.

Requirements
Qualifications
  • Must have an active RMA/CMA certification.
  • Must be CPR certified.
  • Experience in a pediatric medical practice preferred.
  • Working knowledge of computer applications; prior experience with electronic medical records preferred.
  • Ability to speak, read, and write effectively.
  • Ability to work independently without direct supervision.
  • Ability to coordinate, analyze, observe, make decisions, and meet deadlines in a detail‑oriented manner.
Working Conditions & Physical Requirements
  • Indoor, temperature controlled, smoke‑free environment.
  • Exposure or potential exposure to blood and bodily fluids may be required.
  • May at times work under stressful situations.
  • Handicap‑accessible.
  • Good visual acuity and ability to verbally communicate.
  • Ability to lift, lower, push, pull, and retrieve objects weighing a minimum of 25 pounds.
