Job summary

Mercy Health is seeking a Cardiac Sonographer Registered to join St. Charles Hospital. The role performs transthoracic and transesophageal echocardiography and related cardiac testing to evaluate heart function.

The ideal candidate holds an Associates degree in cardiovascular technology or related field, is BLS certified, and has experience with EPIC EHR and PACS. On-call hours are required, with benefits supporting growth and well-being.

Qualifications

• Associates degree in an applied health science field with a cardiovascular focus (preferred).
• BLS certification is required.
• 1+ year of cardiac sonography experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Perform diagnostic echocardiography exams (TTE/TOE) and cardiac stress tests.
• Demonstrate knowledge of cardiac anatomy and exam procedures; interpret results.
• Prepare and monitor patients during procedures and document findings in the EMR.
• Work with on-call schedule as required.

Cardiac Sonographer Registered - St. Charles Hospital

Job Summary:

The Cardiac Sonographer performs diagnostic, non-invasive and invasive cardiac exams on patients using ultrasound testing equipment to evaluate the heart. The testing modalities include Transthoracic Echocardiography, Transesophageal Echocardiography, and Cardiac Stress testing.

Essential Functions:

• Performs diagnostic echocardiography examinations using ultrasound testing equipment to evaluate the heart during Transthoracic Echocardiography, Transesophageal Echocardiography, and Cardiac Stress testing examinations.
• Demonstrates ability to proficiently perform non-invasive and invasive cardiac exams.
• Demonstrate knowledge of cardiac anatomy, exam procedures, and interpretation of results.
• Prepares and monitors patients before and during procedures.
• Utilizes the hospital electronic medical record to review patient information and document any critical findings.
• On call hours required.

Education:

• Associates degree in an applied health science field with a concentration in cardiovascular technology, ultrasonography or other related study (preferred)

Licensure/Certification:

• Basic Life Support (BLS) – American Heart Association (required)
• Required credentialed in echocardiography by one of the following organizations:
  • Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer (RDCS) by the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS)
  • Registered Cardiac Sonographer (RCS) by the Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI)
    

Experience:

• Minimum of one year of experience as a Cardiac Sonographer (preferred)
• EPIC Electronic Health Record (EHR) experience (preferred)
• Picture archiving communication system (PACS) experience (preferred)
