Job summary

Bon Secours Mercy Health is seeking a Cardiac Sonographer Registered for St. Charles Hospital to perform diagnostic heart ultrasound exams including TTE, TEE, and stress testing.

The role requires patient prep, documentation, and on-call duties as part of a compassionate, patient-focused team. Applicants should have an Associate degree in cardiovascular technology or related field, BLS certification, and credentialing (RDCS or RCS).

Qualifications

• BLS required (American Heart Association).
• Credentialed in echocardiography: RDCS (ARDMS) or RCS (CCI).
• Minimum one year of experience preferred; EPIC EHR and PACS experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Performs diagnostic echocardiography examinations using ultrasound equipment.
• Demonstrates ability to perform non-invasive and invasive cardiac exams.
• Demonstrates knowledge of cardiac anatomy, exam procedures, and result interpretation.
• Prepares and monitors patients before and during procedures.
• Utilizes the EMR to review patient information and document findings.
• On call hours required.

Cardiac Sonographer Registered – St. Charles Hospital

Job Summary: The Cardiac Sonographer performs diagnostic, non-invasive and invasive cardiac exams on patients using ultrasound testing equipment to evaluate the heart. The testing modalities include Transthoracic Echocardiography, Transesophageal Echocardiography, and Cardiac Stress testing.

Essential Functions

• Performs diagnostic echocardiography examinations using ultrasound testing equipment to evaluate the heart during Transthoracic Echocardiography, Transesophageal Echocardiography, and Cardiac Stress testing examinations.
• Demonstrates ability to proficiently perform non-invasive and invasive cardiac exams.
• Demonstrates knowledge of cardiac anatomy, exam procedures, and interpretation of results.
• Prepares and monitors patients before and during procedures.
• Utilizes the hospital electronic medical record to review patient information and document any critical findings.
• On call hours required.

Education

• Associates degree in an applied health science field with a concentration in cardiovascular technology, ultrasonography or other related study (preferred)

Licensure/Certification

• Basic Life Support (BLS) – American Heart Association (required)
• Required credentialed in echocardiography by one of the following organizations:
  • Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer (RDCS) by the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS)
  • Registered Cardiac Sonographer (RCS) by the Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI)

Experience

• Minimum of one year of experience as a Cardiac Sonographer (preferred)
• EPIC Electronic Health Record (EHR) experience (preferred)
• Picture archiving communication system (PACS) experience (preferred)
