Job description

At North Shore Pediatric Therapy in Arlington Heights, IL, we're looking for dedicated individuals to join our team as a Registered Behavior Technician.

Why North Shore Pediatric Therapy?

We hire our RBTs based on character first and experience second, and applicants must demonstrate integrity, kindness, and patience. As part of a clinical team, you’ll provide a life-changing service that impacts entire families. In just a few weeks of ABA therapy, a child might progress from lacking vocabulary to expressing wants and feelings, or from antisocial behaviors to greeting family cheerfully. Our success stories are numerous, requiring excellence from every team member.

  • Career Path & Certification: We offer comprehensive training and support. We provide all the support you need as a Registered Behavior Technician. For those studying ABA and working towards their BCBA, we have a formalized Assistant Clinical Coordinator (ACC) pathway to help you prepare for the BCBA exam and earn your required hours.
  • Interdisciplinary Support: You'll work in a multi-disciplinary environment with teams in ABA, Neuropsychology, Occupational Therapy, Physical Therapy, Speech-Language Pathology, and Mental Health.
  • Flexible scheduling: Many children need after school, evening, and Saturday hours. You can specify your availability, and we will build your caseload accordingly!
  • Benefits include 401(k) with company match, paid time off (full-time), health, dental, and vision insurance (full-time), and paid holidays (full-time).
Who makes a great Registered Behavior Technician?
  • You have an active RBT Certification and are in good standing with the BACB.
  • You have prior childcare experience, especially with children with developmental needs, or caretaking experience such as nursing or aide roles.
  • You are studying or interested in psychology or child development.
  • You love active play, enjoy engaging with children’s games, and making learning fun!
  • You have a friend or family member on the autism spectrum and can envision yourself in a caretaker role.
  • You are known for patience and compassion, providing consistent, calm care tailored to each individual's needs.
  • You have a background in teaching, assisting, counseling, or coaching.
  • You have an interest or background in pediatric therapies like speech, physical, or occupational therapy, and are comfortable collaborating with professionals in these fields.
  • You possess basic computer skills and are quick to learn new technology, including electronic medical systems.
  • If you do not meet all the above but are inspired by our mission and impact, we encourage your application.
What does a Registered Behavior Technician do?

You will provide 1:1 care to children, executing therapy plans designed by a BCBA supervisor. ABA therapy involves reinforcement techniques to teach skills, foster independence, and build social relationships, while accommodating sensory needs. Patience and compassion are essential, especially when managing emotional overloads common in children with ASD. We will train you to handle these behaviors effectively.

Whether you are passionate about this career or exploring options, we will teach you the skills to make an impact today and discuss potential career growth over 1, 3, 5 years and beyond.

Our two-step interview process helps ensure you understand our culture and how you can contribute:

  • Video Interview: Meet our recruiting team online to discuss benefits, culture, and your values.
  • In-Person Interview: Visit the center, meet the team, and observe a session.

Pay rate: $22.50 - $24.50 USD per hour
