Job description

Job Summary

The Registered Behavioral Technician will provide clinical skills instruction and behavior reduction protocols based upon the principles of Applied Behavior Analysis. Clients include children with autism and related developmental disabilities in the home, community, clinic, and school settings. The RBT will collect data on programs and assist with parent training while working under the supervision of a Board-Certified Behavior Analyst.

The role focuses on treating socially significant behaviors, such as social skills, communication, personal self-care, and work skills.

Responsibilities
  • Plan and implement intervention strategies using direct therapy, monitoring, and consultation under BCBA supervision.
  • Teach targeted behaviors using reward systems, incidental teaching, and pivotal response training.
  • Record and track data from training sessions.
  • Reinforce positive behavior with children on caseload.
  • Communicate effectively with administrators, parents, and community members.
  • Provide accurate documentation of intervention, goals, and objectives.
  • Facilitate transition among agencies, programs, and professionals as service provision changes.
  • Identify emergency situations and determine appropriate actions to ensure child safety.
  • Provide direct client care in 1:1 and group settings using intensive teaching and natural environment training arrangements.
  • Follow prescribed behavior skill acquisition and behavior reduction protocols.
  • Assist with parent and caregiver training in line with individualized treatment and behavior reduction protocols.
  • Effectively communicate client progress to parents and caregivers as instructed by the BCBA.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Physical Requirements
  • Hearing and speaking ability to communicate on the telephone.
  • Vision necessary for entering data.
  • Manual dexterity required for operating the computer, photocopier, and telephone.
  • Mobility required for accessing equipment such as photocopier and fax machine.
  • Must be able to speak and write in English in an understandable manner.
  • Must be able to function independently and maintain personal integrity.
  • Requires flexibility of hours.
Psychological Requirements
  • Ability to recognize tasks and perform them independently.
  • Ability to establish a responsible and trustworthy rapport with staff.
  • Ability to provide proper notification and advance notice for absence and tardiness.
  • Ability to follow through on tasks as assigned.

Intellectual Requirements
  • Ability to learn all Constellation Kids policies and procedures.
  • Judgment skills in processing telephone calls.
  • Organizational skills necessary to establish priorities and meet deadlines.
  • Ability to operate all aspects of the computer, photocopier, and telephone.
  • Ability to understand and follow instructions provided by the supervisor in written and oral formats.
  • Ability to read, write, and type.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in a human services field from an accredited university AND one year of direct relevant experience working with youth and families requiring behavior management to address mental health needs, OR
  • Associate’s degree (60 college credits) AND a minimum of two years of direct relevant experience working with youth and families requiring behavior management to address mental health needs.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills required.
  • Registered Behavior Technician certification required.
