Other Qualifications: Must work cooperatively with adults and children. Must follow directions. Must read and write sufficiently to assist children. Must protect confidentiality rights of parents and children. Must model appropriate grammar usage. Must support safety and good self-esteem in children. Must be punctual and regular in attendance. Employment is contingent upon the passing of a physical abilities test.

Physical Demands: Must be able to see, hear and move quickly enough to provide for the safety and instructional needs of children. Must be able to articulate clearly. Must be physically active and interactive throughout the school day (i.e., be able to stand for extended periods of time, stoop, bend, do light lifting, push, pull, step, and have good finger dexterity, etc.). Must have emotional coping skills appropriate for the management of student behavior. Must tolerate environmental smells and substances commonly associated with children and educational institutions. The person in this position may be exposed to bodily fluids and therefore need to use universal precautions. Must be able to lift students and attend to the personal needs of children while in school, including toileting.

Essential Job Functions: The Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) Educational Assistant will work under the supervision of a Board-Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) to provide direct behavioral therapy and interventions for students with autism, emotional disturbance, developmental disorders, and challenging behaviors. The RBT implements behavior intervention plans (BIP), collects data, and supports the individual's development and learning goals. This role requires a commitment to improving the lives of individuals through evidence-based practices and consistent delivery of treatment.

• Complete all required materials to obtain the Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) certification.
• Follow the guidance of the BCBA to implement behavior intervention plans and strategies.
• Work closely with the BCBA to assess client progress and make any necessary adjustments to treatment plans.
• Provide direct one-on-one therapy to individuals, focusing on skill acquisition and behavior reduction.
• Collect accurate and consistent data on student behavior, progress, and responses to interventions.
• Maintain detailed records and progress reports for ongoing analysis and assessment by the BCBA.
• Provide behavioral support to students during challenging or disruptive behaviors.
• Implement crisis management techniques when necessary and within the scope of training.
• Participate in ongoing training and professional development opportunities as required.
• Stay updated on best practices in applied behavior analysis (ABA) and related therapeutic techniques.

• Ensure the safety and well-being of students during therapy sessions.
• Assist students with physical needs (e.g., personal care, transportation to and from activities).
• Maintain a professional demeanor and adhere to ethical guidelines as set forth by the Behavior Analyst Certification Board (BACB).

• Uphold confidentiality and respect for the dignity of students.

Staff Relationship: Reports directly to the School Principal

Terms of Employment: Full-time Educational Assistants work on the days that teachers work at their school. Salary and benefits set by Board. Non-exempt. Part-time Mid-Day Assistants work a maximum 4 hours per day, only on days children attend school, no benefits, and hourly rate set by Board. Non-exempt.
