Responsibilities

  • Assists in assessments (e.g., functional analyses) and treatment sessions.
  • Assists in data entry and creation of graphs for data trends.
  • Assists in training caregivers or other providers.
  • Follows Marcus Crisis Prevention Program safety procedures during transport or interactions.
  • Attends unit meetings and required trainings.

Job Description

The Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) – Complex Behavior provides direct client services to children and adolescents, up to age 21, with high-intensity and high-frequency complex behaviors (e.g., aggression, self-injury, property destruction). These behaviors have caused injury and/or damage to themselves, others and/or the environment. Services focus on reduction of complex behaviors and increasing adaptive behaviors under the supervision of a Board-Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA or BCBA-D). The RBT – Complex Behavior is primarily responsible for the direct implementation of Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) protocols.

Experience
  • No minimum experience required
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in related field (Psychology, Education, Applied Behavior Analysis, Behavioral Health, Occupational Therapy, Speech Language Pathology, etc.)
  • Experience in the implementation of behavioral assessment/treatment programs with children with developmental disabilities
  • Knowledge of normal/abnormal growth and development throughout the age continuum
  • Experience with Microsoft Office
  • Current Registered Behavior Technician certification
Education
  • High school diploma or equivalent
Certification Summary
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through American Heart Association (AHA) within 30 days of employment
  • RBT certification within 90 days of employment
  • Completion of Marcus Crisis Prevention Program (MCPP) Tier Five within 90 days of employment
  • Collaborative Institutional Training Initiative (CITI) within 90 days of employment

  • Ability to provide, assess, interpret, and communicate client-specific data in response to treatment protocols
  • Strong organizational and time management skills along with ability to manage multiple tasks
  • Excellent customer service skills, communication skills, and the ability to communicate well in person, in writing, and on the phone

  • Ability to quickly adapt to change while maintaining a positive attitude
  • Ability to work effectively in pressured situations and demonstrate the ability to diffuse escalating situations
  • Understanding that this role is exposed to complex behavior such as personal insults and offensive language, aggression, self-injury, elopement, expulsion (i.e., spitting out foods or liquids during treatment) and property destruction. Staff are commonly required to wear adaptive clothing and protective equipment to maintain the safety of the client and staff.
Job Responsibilities
  • Provides direct client care utilizing applied behavior analysis protocols under the supervision of a BCBA or BCBA-D. Protocols are specialized and focus on reduction of client\'s complex behavior (e.g., aggression, self-injury, property destruction) and increasing adaptive skills. Protocols are implemented under close clinical oversight.
  • Communicates case-related activities with supervisors using written and verbal communication.
  • Accurately collects data of patient complex behavior (e.g., aggression, self-injury, property destruction) during direct observations using paper & pencil or computer-based data collection systems.
  • Assists in implementation of assessments (e.g., functional analyses) and treatment sessions.
  • Assists in data entry, creating graphical depictions of data and adjustment of routine behavioral assessments and protocols.
  • Assists in training of caregivers or other relevant providers (e.g., teachers, BCBAs).
  • Utilizes safe Marcus Crisis Prevention Program procedures when transporting or working with clients.
  • Completes a daily Complex RBT Duty (e.g., ordering supplies, creating packets of documents, tidying up areas of the unit, etc.).
  • Delivers excellent customer service through timely communication, responsiveness, and organization.
  • Attends unit meetings and required training.
