Knowledge:
1. Establish and maintain effective and harmonious working relationships with students, their families, colleagues and supervisors.
2. Actively engage in activities with students including play, bend, kneel, lift and sit at a child’s level.
3. Ability to apply common sense understanding and to communicate options and solutions when several variables exist.
4. Communicate effectively, orally and in writing; ability to read, write, speak and understand English.
Responsibilities:
1. Prompts safe and socially acceptable replacement behaviors in order to build a repertoire of communication, social interaction, and problem solving skills.
2. Fades prompts appropriately to promote both successful and independent responding.
3. Increases the frequency or duration of safe and appropriate replacement behaviors by providing access to reinforcers (desired items/actions, attention, or removal of demands/aversive situations).
4. Accurately collects behavior data including: A-B-C, frequency, duration, latency, inter-response time, event, and interval based recording.
5. Follows the treatment plan goals and interventions utilizing sound judgment and seeks out appropriate consultation.
6. Collaborates with family and Team members to implement programming effectively and without disruption to the environment or other individuals in the environment.
7. Educate parents on reinforcement and early intervention information.
8. Educates all those involved about the role of ABA-based interventions and the RBT, and functions within boundaries of the RBT role in providing services.
9. Reassessment as appropriate.
10. Sets up assistive technology for student use.
11. Participates in weekly training/consultation, as required.
12. Reinforces previously taught concepts in a one-on-one or small group setting.
13. Communicates with liaison regarding progress of students.
14. Documents student progress both academically and behaviorally.
15. Accompanies students to general education classroom, and related services as needed; and provides modifications to instruction.
16. Ensures safety of students as they use adaptive equipment.
17. Assists with self-help skills, including but not limited to clothing, feeding, toileting.
18. Supports students within the community and at job sites.
19. Participates in student progress meetings when requested, and provides input for progress reports and objectives; informs appropriate staff of program changes and updates.
20. Completes parent communication logs and district documents as required.
21. Participates in required professional development, such as restraint training, CPR/First Aid certification, and staff meetings and extended day sessions.
22. Demonstrates flexibility when daily schedules change.
23. Assists in the development, implementation, and evaluation of curriculum programs and modifications, including but not limited to augmentative communication devices, task analysis, and discrete trial materials.
24. Maintains students’ program books, including but not limited to organizing assessments, documenting programmatic changes, and conducting reinforcement assessments.
25. Implements instructional and behavioral programs as designed by the BCBA.
26. Uses ABA procedures to conduct and amend student programs and record appropriate data in pull-out and inclusion settings. This includes, but is not limited to, discrete trial training, social stories, and social skills training.
27. Models ABA techniques and provides support for other staff as requested by the BCBA.
28. Conducts data collection at all stages of skill acquisition.
29. Maintains student specific materials, reinforcers, and programming in a neat and orderly manner.
30. Participates in and maintains restraint training.
31. Perform other related tasks or duties as assigned by the BCBA, Building Principals, and/or Director of Pupil Personnel Services.
Job Summary: Supports and implements the programs and plans created by the Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA). Implements Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) interventions and programs that encourage socially acceptable replacement behaviors so students can build and improve upon their communication, social interaction, and problem solving for students with Autism Spectrum Disorders, behavioral disabilities, or other developmental delays.
