Job summary

United Trading Group in Salt Lake City is seeking an Engineer I–III to perform administrative engineering tasks and assist in water rights reviews under the supervision of the Regional Engineer.

The role requires a foundational engineering degree and EIT/FE credentials, with potential progression to a PE license. Some field work and local travel are expected; strong written and verbal communication is essential.

Qualifications

• Core engineering knowledge including fundamentals, mathematics and analysis.
• Ability to communicate complex technical concepts in reports and presentations.
• Physical capability to perform field work and occasional local travel.

Responsibilities

• Review water right files, processes, policy guidelines, and statutes.
• Advise water users and assist public inquiry staff in the preparation of applications.
• Assist Regional Engineer and direct regional staff in responsibilities related to appropriations.
• Assist in the management and supervision of distribution systems within the region and operate river modeling programs.
• Assist in verifying information related to ongoing actions to enforce water rights.
• Perform dam inspections, write inspection reports, and assess permits as required.
• Attend presentations, review and compose written reports, and make public presentations.
• Other duties as assigned.
