Regional Volunteering Coordinator (North West and North Wales)

Do you have a passion for volunteering? Would you like to make a difference to the lives of people with a learning disability? If yes, we have an opportunity for you!

We are looking for a dedicated individual to join Mencap as a Regional Volunteering Coordinator. This is a fixed-term maternity cover until 30th January 2026, full or part-time. You will support volunteers in your region, facilitate corporate volunteering days, and provide expertise to volunteer managers in the North West and North Wales region, promoting best practices across all activities.

The role involves supporting the entire volunteer journey for Mencap in the North West and North Wales. The salary is £32,954 pro rata, available on a full or part-time basis, and the contract is until 30th January 2026.

Key information:

  • Candidates should reside in Cumbria, Lancashire, Clwyd, Derbyshire, Greater Manchester, Cheshire, Leicestershire, Merseyside, Isle of Anglesey, Denbighshire, Flintshire, or Wrexham.
  • In-person interview in Manchester on Friday, 20th June, and a second online interview with our learning disability panel.

Responsibilities include:

  • Developing partnerships and assessing volunteer needs across your region.
  • Creating and promoting volunteer roles locally and nationally.
  • Supporting recruitment, induction, and management of volunteers.
  • Addressing challenges faced by volunteer teams.
  • Increasing volunteer opportunities supporting our mission.
  • Collaborating with local services and businesses for corporate volunteering.
  • Creating accessible volunteer roles.
  • Supporting projects within the Volunteering Team.

Ideal candidates will have experience in recruiting and managing volunteers or staff, excellent communication skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple projects. Understanding the rights and needs of people with a learning disability is advantageous.
