Job summary

Fresh Del Monte Produce Inc. is seeking a Transportation/Fleet Manager to oversee the trucking fleet for distribution centers. You will direct daily operations, focus on on-time delivery, safety, and regulatory compliance.

The role leads drivers, lead drivers, and dispatchers, manages fleet P&L, and maintains vendor relations to deliver high service at low cost. Travel up to 25% may be required; a 4-year degree in Transportation/Logistics is preferred.

• Minimum of 5 years' experience in transportation management.
• Union experience preferred.
• Strong knowledge of DOT rules and Hours of Service (HOS).
• Experience with supply chain management.
• Travel up to 25% may be required.

Responsibilities

• Oversee daily distribution of products with top service and on-time performance.
• Lead and manage Drivers, Lead Drivers, and Dispatchers to meet targets.
• Manage Tractor/Trailer Fleet at each DC while coordinating with GM.
• Ensure DOT regulatory compliance for drivers and equipment.
• Oversee P&L performance for the fleet per DC.
• Maintain vendor relations to optimize service and cost.
• Conduct quarterly visits to DCs and sales offices.

Purpose of Position:

This position will be responsible for overseeing the Trucking Fleet for Del Monte Fresh Produce Distribution Centers. In this role, will also be directly responsible for the daily operations of the Fleet, with the objective of providing the highest level of customer service and on-time performance, in a safe, legal, and fiscally responsible manner.

Accountabilities:

• Responsible for daily distribution of products to the customer, with the highest level of service and on-time performance.


• Maintain and improve an established team of Drivers, Lead Drivers, and Dispatchers to achieve target goals and objectives.


• Manage Tractor/Trailer Fleet for each Facility/Distribution Center (DC), while maintaining communication with location General Manager and staff, to achieve common goals.


• Oversee and ensure compliance with safety performance and Department of Transportation (DOT), required rules and regulations for Drivers and equipment.


• Manage Profit and Loss performance for the fleet per DC/Facility assigned.


• Maintain and improve established vendor relations to achieve the highest level of service, and performance, at the lowest cost possible.


• Conduct quarterly visits to each Distribution Center and Sales offices in assigned regions.

Minimum Requirements:

• At least 5 years of transportation management.


• Union experience preferred.


• Strong knowledge and understanding of Department of Transportation (DOT) rules and regulations, as related to Fleet Operations, Driver Qualifications, Hours of Service (HOS), CSA 2010, etc.


• Strong knowledge and understanding of supply chain management.


• Knowledge of Microsoft Office Skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook).


• Excellent communication skills (oral and written).


• Experience with Transportation Management Systems with McLeod is a plus.


• Must be able to travel approximately 25%.

Preferred:

• 4 year College Degree in Transportation/Logistics (or related business field), and/or a combination of specialized training, and/or equivalent work experience.
