Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in business administration or a related field.
  • 3+ years of sales management experience, including new account prospecting and generation.

Job Summary

Lead and direct reports in the field through the sales process. Design and recommend sales and marketing programs, set short- and long-term sales strategies, and develop customer retention programs to optimize sales performance, profitability, and customer satisfaction. Plan, forecast, and report on sales and competitive pricing activities. This position requires operation of a Company Vehicle or a Personal Vehicle, with operation occurring more than 60% of the work week. An acceptable Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) report is required for employment.

Major Tasks, Responsibilities, and Key Accountabilities

  • Oversee daily operations of sales representatives, organizing them by channel, market, or product unit, with over 60% of time spent in the field collaborating with Account Managers to engage customers, pursue opportunities, and resolve issues.
  • Define the sales process, develop effective sales strategies, identify areas for improvement, and foster new account development through collaboration with Account Managers.
  • Co-own, with Account Managers, the top customers and opportunities within the portfolio.
  • Drive deeper wallet share within existing accounts by assessing current sales and identifying growth opportunities.
  • Analyze sales data and develop reports using Salesforce to identify growth opportunities.
  • Develop sales processes to achieve desired outcomes and increase market share in the territory.
  • Enhance supplier engagement through product learning and guidance on sell-through with customers.
  • Coach and develop direct reports, recruit top talent, conduct performance reviews, and support career growth.

Nature and Scope

  • Require analysis and investigation to develop solutions.
  • Achieve results through decisions and actions based on professional methods, principles, and experience.
  • Manage a team of professional contributors and support staff.

Work Environment

  • Located indoors in a comfortable environment, with infrequent unpleasant conditions.
  • Most of the time spent sitting, with opportunities to move; occasional light lifting may be required.
  • Overnight travel required 5% to 20% of the time.


Education and Experience

  • Typically requires a BS/BA in a related discipline and 7+ years of experience. Certification may be required. An advanced degree can offset less experience.
