Job summary

Core & Main, based in St. Louis, seeks a Regional Sales Manager to expand specification positions and manage a broad distributor network in the water distribution sector.

You will promote product lines, provide training, quotations, and after‑sales support while driving regional sales growth across municipal and contractor channels. The role requires five years of outside sales experience, a valid driver's license, and the ability to travel about half the time across a large territory.

Qualifications

• Minimum five years of outside sales experience in water distribution or related field (construction, piping, etc.).
• Valid driver’s license with no major violations.
• Ability to travel about 50% of the work schedule (roughly 3–4 days/week with one office day).
• Ability to cover a large geographic sales territory.
• Intermediate computer skills in Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint.
• Strong interpersonal skills and effective communication abilities.
• Must be able to lift over 40 lbs. to demonstrate products.

Responsibilities

• Call on end product users to promote new and existing product lines and develop favorable specification positions.
• Provide complete service to the distributor network including quotations, training, technical and literary support, product warranty handling, and delivery issues.
• Conduct product training for end users and distributors to promote advantages of offered products and improve specification positions.
• Set sales goals and specification objectives to meet the company sales budget.
• Identify bid opportunities and provide complete project information including pricing strategies.
• Deliver after-sales service support including warranty and claims management.
• Engage with trade organizations to promote products and company presence.
• Provide leadership with monthly sales forecasts and market overviews.

Duties

• Call on end product users to promote new and existing product lines and develop favorable specification position.
• Provide complete service to established distributor network including: quotations, product training, technical and literary support, product complaint, inventory maintenance, and delivery issues.
• Perform product training for end users and distributors to promote advantages of offered products and enhance specification position.
• Establish sales goals and specification objectives to meet company sales budget.
• Identify significant bid opportunities and provide complete project information, including price strategy.
• Provide after sale service support, including warranty and claims management.
• Actively participate in trade organizations to promote offered products.
• Provide leadership with monthly sales forecast and market overview.

Required Qualifications

• A minimum of five (5) years outside sales experience in the water distribution industry or related field (construction, piping, etc.).
• Valid driver’s license with no major violations.
• Ability to routinely travel 50% of work schedule (estimated 3-4 days/week of travel with one office day).
• Ability to cover large geographical sales territory.
• Intermediate computer experience with particular proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint programs.
• High level of outgoing interpersonal skills and ability to communicate effectively.
• Must be able to lift in excess of 40 lbs. to maneuver products during demonstrations.

Desired Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree, preferably in a business, engineering, or communications-related field.
• Mechanical aptitude.
