POSITION TITLE: REGIONAL SALES ACCOUNT EXECUTIVE – WASHINGTON, DC

DEPARTMENT: CONVENTION SALES

ACCOUNTABLE TO: SR. VP OF CONVENTION SALES & STRATEGIES

STATUS: EXEMPT, FULL-TIME

Primary Objective of the Position:

Serve as a strategic representative of New Orleans & Company in the Washington, DC region to promote New Orleans as a top-tier meeting and convention destination. The primary focus is to generate qualified sales leads and build lasting relationships with key decision-makers and stakeholders, including executive leadership, meeting professionals, and third-party planners. This role will actively engage in sales calls, local and national industry events, and customer activations to secure new business opportunities for New Orleans. Collaboration with the New Orleans-based sales and services teams is essential to maximize results and elevate the destination’s visibility. This is a Washington, DC -based, remote position.

Major Areas of Accountability/Essential Duties:

  • Lead Generation and Account Development
    Proactively cultivate relationships with key accounts in the Mid-Atlantic region to generate qualified leads and contribute to team room night goals. Conduct regular in-person sales calls, virtual appointments, and outbound prospecting to uncover new opportunities. Maintain an active presence with key decision-makers and influencers in the region.
  • Industry Engagement and Networking
    Develop and manage regional customer events including budgeting, venue selection, and program design in partnership with the New Orleans-based team. Actively participate in major national and regional trade shows, client events, and industry meetings. Represent New Orleans & Company at key Washington, DC and regional hospitality and meetings industry events to build brand presence and expand the local network.
  • Collaboration and Customer Support
    Work closely with the New Orleans-based sales and convention services teams to ensure seamless lead handoff, proper documentation, and high-quality customer follow-up. Assist other sales staff and members with scheduling appointments to assist in the solicitation and generation of leads for new business. Collaborate on multi-market sales strategies and assist in planning joint customer events and activations.
  • CRM and Reporting Compliance
    Consistently track sales activities, client interactions, and lead development in Simpleview CRM. Ensure timely and accurate updates for all sales calls, appointments, and lead statuses. Prepare various weekly and monthly reports and complete special projects, as assigned.
  • Sales Strategy Contribution
    Contribute to the development and execution of strategies to strengthen New Orleans’ competitive positioning in the Mid-Atlantic region.
  • Budget Management
    Manage regional office expenses responsibly and in accordance with company policies. Submit timely and accurate expense reports on a monthly basis.
  • Professional Development & Market Intelligence
    Stay informed on industry trends, competitive destinations, and market dynamics to better support clients and the sales team.
  • Additional Responsibilities
    Complete special projects and other duties as assigned.

Education and/or Experience:

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent from four-year college or university; and five to seven years related experience and/or training or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office suite or similar. Knowledge of spreadsheets and database programs, desired. Prior experience with a CRM or data management system a plus.
  • Strong problem-solving abilities, attention to detail and follow-through.
  • Ability to manage multiple objectives simultaneously and prioritize appropriately.
  • Possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills including the ability to speak effectively before groups of customers, members, and/or employees of the organization.
  • Ability to work well in a team environment.

Ability to travel by airplane and operate a motor vehicle.
