Job summary

Final Mile is seeking a Field Manager, Safety, Health, & Security to lead safety, health and security programs across a designated region in Illinois. You will drive a proactive safety culture through hands-on coaching of drivers and operations staff, conduct site audits, investigations, and training, and ensure regulatory compliance.

Ideal candidates have 5+ years in transportation, a Bachelor’s in a related field, and experience with ELDs and cargo securement.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in safety, risk management, business, transportation, logistics, supply chain or related field preferred.
• At least 5 years of experience in the transportation industry.
• Certified Director of Safety, not required, but preferred.
• Demonstrated investigative successes.

Responsibilities

• Manage Safety Management within assigned region.
• Conduct safety observations and ride-alongs with drivers.
• Perform site audits and reviews within the region.
• Inspect commercial equipment for safety compliance.
• Serve as Safety Trainer and manage training within the region.
• Lead safety meetings and communications.
• Investigate accidents, incidents and injuries and analyze root causes.
• Respond to accident reporting after hours as assigned.
• Investigate security incidents and oversee cargo/terminal security.
• Analyze trends of at-risk behaviors and develop targeted communications.
• Manage Driver and Location performance improvement plans via online safety tools.
• Identify risky driver practices and enforce corrective actions.
• Facilitate and document formal improvement plans.
• Document results and uphold safety standards and best practices.
