Job summary

Forward Air Corporation seeks a Regional Workplace Safety Manager to lead safety initiatives across transportation terminals, warehouses and offices. You will partner with operational leadership to foster a strong safety culture, ensuring compliance with FMCSA, DOT, OSHA and other regulations, while driving continuous improvement across the region.

The role requires developing and improving regional safety programs, delivering training, and leading safety investigations.

Qualifications

Education: Undergraduate degree in Occupational Safety, Environmental Health & Safety, Industrial Hygiene, Risk Management, Transportation, Logistics, Business, or related field.
Certification/Licensure: CSP, ASP, OSHA certification, CDS, or other relevant safety credentials preferred.
Experience: 5+ years of progressive workplace safety experience in transportation, logistics, warehousing, distribution, manufacturing, or similar environments.
Strong knowledge of OSHA requirements, safety management systems, and regulatory compliance; FMCSA/DOT knowledge preferred.
Experience implementing and managing safety programs across multiple facilities or locations.
Proven ability to conduct incident investigations, perform root cause analysis, and implement corrective actions.
Experience delivering safety training, coaching leaders, and driving employee engagement in safety initiatives.
Strong communication, leadership, analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

Ensure compliance with FMCSA, DOT, OSHA, environmental, and other applicable regulations.
Develop, implement, maintain, and continuously improve regional safety programs and policies across terminals, warehouses, and offices.
Partner with operational leadership to identify hazards, reduce risk, and improve safety performance.
Conduct facility inspections, safety audits, and compliance reviews to ensure standards.
Lead investigations involving injuries, incidents, near misses; perform root cause analyses and corrective actions.
Deliver regulatory and company-required safety training to employees, drivers, contractors, and leaders.
Analyze safety performance trends and KPIs; develop strategic action plans.
Prepare and present safety reports and recommendations to regional and corporate leadership.
Support new facility start-ups and continuous improvement initiatives by evaluating risks and controls.
Maintain accurate safety records, training docs, incident reports, audits, and compliance files.
Collaborate with Operations, HR, Risk Management, and other stakeholders on safety concerns.
Stay current on regulatory changes and best practices through ongoing professional development.
