Sunbelt Rentals is seeking a Safety Coordinator with leadership in safety programs across the US. The role is remote-based and requires extensive overnight travel to ensure SH&E standards are implemented at branches nationwide.

You will train Safety Coordinators, conduct inspections, and drive continuous improvement in safety performance. Strong written/verbal communication and organizational skills are essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Occupational Safety and Health or related field; 7+ years in Safety, Health and Environmental Management Systems.
• Preferred CSP, ASP or CIH certification.
• Willingness to travel 75% including overnight and weekend travel.
• Must reside near a major airport hub with US-wide coverage.

Job Description Summary

Position Responsibilities:

• May have oversight and support of Project Safety Coordinators


• The position is remote based and will require travel based to provide project and event safety oversight and validation of company SH&E standards are successfully implemented across the US. Candidates should expect position l 75% overnight travel and potentially weekend travel.


• Preparing reports and recommending procedures to improve organizational performance


• Overseeing the overall integrity and quality of all Sunbelt Rentals safety protocols at individual branches within their assigned geographical area


• Conducts branch and project safety compliance inspections and audits in accordance with scheduled program utilizing dedicated audit criteria including employee training, facility regulatory compliance, vehicle fleet / DOT compliance, shop and equipment rental fleet compliance.


• Works with Branch Managers (BMs) to assign the correct Safety Coordinator to the location.


• Provides training and guidance to Safety Coordinators in each branch to ensure a consistent approach is taken regarding policies and procedures.


• Identifies deficiencies found during inspections; provides written evaluation of inspection with corrective action requirements utilizing Enablon; assists Branch Managers in mandating time period for completion of corrective actions and follows corrective actions until closure.


• Responsible for delivering safety training modules to employees on an ongoing basis.


• Assists Safety Coordinator as necessary with completion of required training, safety meeting coordination and completion, and maintenance of Safety Training & Documentation Manual.


• Responsible for tracking and trending in their respected areas to identify which locations are adhering to the Sunbelt Rentals Leading Indicator Program and which areas need attention due a increase in lagging data.


• Responsible for working with the Safety Director and Line of Business VP/leadership to develop an annual strategic SH&E Business Plan addressing prior year performance of the Region as well as annual targets for the Calendar and Fiscal Year.


• Leads monthly Safety Coordinator Phone Call for all Coordinators in the region.


• Train and monitor staff on Sunbelt Rentals Safety Tools.


• Supports Branch Manager and Safety Coordinator in the investigation of all incidents and appropriate near-misses while assisting the BM in completion of reporting requirements and follows up as necessary to support the claims managers.

Requirements:

Education & Experience:

• Bachelor's degree in Occupational Safety and Health or a related field or equivalent work experience plus a minimum of 7 years working with Safety, Health and Environmental Management Systems and implementation of safety programs


• Preferred Safety Certification - CSP, ASP and CIH


• Ability and willingness to travel 75%; overnight travel required, with potential weekend travel


• Must live near or have easy access to a major airport hub. The coverage area will be the entire US.


• Event and/or large construction project experience is a plus


• Exceptional written and verbal skills when addressing either individuals or groups


• Exceptional organizational skills


• Ability to present information in classroom or conference call setting.


• Ability to develop and execute a strategic plan that includes measurable goals based on leading and lagging indicator performance.

• Ability to track and trend performance of multiple locations based on incident data obtained through internal tracking mechanisms.

Physical Demands:

Must be able to bend, squat, crouch and/or reach and lift up to 25 pounds or more, as required by the job. Some Sunbelt jobs may require driving for long periods of time, loading and unloading heavy equipment, performing work in extreme weather conditions including rain, wind or excessive temperatures and/or night and weekend work. All duties must be performed according to Sunbelt's safety policies and guidelines.

Base Pay Range: $98,573.00 - 135,537.60
