Job summary

First Student in Chicago, IL seeks a Regional Safety Director to provide safety oversight, day-to-day management, and regulatory reporting across multiple locations. You will drive safety initiatives and ensure compliance with federal, state, and client requirements.

Lead safety teams, perform root-cause analyses, and promote behavioral safety improvements. Travel ~50% is required. Compensation ranges from $130,000 to $150,000 with a 20% annual bonus, depending on experience.

Qualifications

• 7 years proven experience in Safety/transportation or similar service with multi-site responsibilities or 5+ years of management experience.
• OSHA 10-hr./30-hr. certification preferred.
• Demonstrate leadership and decision-making.
• Strong proficiency with MS Office and related software.

Responsibilities

• Ensure safe transportation of passengers.
• Monitor compliance with company policies and federal/state regulations.
• Coordinate safety initiatives and training across the region.
• Build relationships with employees, officials, parents, and the community.
• Lead by example in safety teams and staff development.
• Collect and report safety data from locations for monthly reports.
• Provide support to risk management and region claims reviews.
• Identify trainer needs and ensure proper onboarding of safety staff.
