What part will you play?
GAF Energy is seeking a Regional Quality Specialist to observe, evaluate, and document the quality of fieldwork practices and drive improvements with management and employees as needed.
The Regional Quality Specialist will work with internal teams, contractors, and business partners within the GAF Energy network to establish and implement safety and quality standards and best practices related to the deployment and operation of our Timberline Solar roofing system.
The ideal candidate must have a passion for working with others to problem solve quality issues within the residential solar and electrical industry. Successful candidates must be able to demonstrate proficiency in working remotely and independently.
This role will report to the Director of Safety & Quality or the Senior Regional Quality Leader.
What will you be doing?
Perform quality inspections of our Timberline Solar roofing systems, both virtually and in the field, within your region.
Conduct investigations related to field failures and product issues, and develop corrective procedures and actions for resolution.
Document and report results of field inspections, including recommendations for correcting critical issues, to management, leadership teams, and contractor partners.
Define and execute process improvements to create, characterize, and optimize Timberline Solar roof and electrical installations.
Participate in department initiatives to improve quality and safety.
Create training content in collaboration with GAF Energy’s training team to support quality and safety. Complete hands-on training in the field with GAF Energy electrical services crews, as well as with contractor partners.
Perform in-field project evaluations based on project specifications determined in coordination with internal teams, including engineering and research & development, and with contractor partners.
Translate customer needs and requirements into product design specifications. Collaborate with internal engineering and research & development teams to think creatively to develop new designs, features, and tools for product and process improvements.
Effectively control safety and health risks related to your fieldwork, including working at heights, working with electricity, driving, and other risks.
What do we require from you?
5+ years experience in a quality-related role in residential electrical and/or solar installation.
An active Colorado Residential Wireman, Journeyman Electrician, or Master Electrician license in good standing is required, or a path to licensure is achievable within 3 months following hire date.
Completion of a degree or certificate program in Quality Management Systems, NDT, Solar or Electrical Technologies, or other relevant field is a plus.
Proficiency working hands-on with hardware, hand and power tools, instruments, measurement tools and techniques.
Proficiency with documentation and reporting, including the ability to organize and present information to others both virtually and in person.
Strong computer skills, including proficiency working with and manipulating data in spreadsheets.
Experience using, understanding, and articulating the National Electrical Code.
Experience with residential asphalt shingle roofing installations and requirements.
Experience conducting training with instructional design or computer-based courseware development tools and systems.
Experience communicating at all levels within an organization, including with technicians, engineers, sales teams, management, and external customers.
Experience working remotely, independently, and with little to no direct supervision.
Bilingual with reading/writing competency in Spanish is a plus.
Must possess a valid driver's license and a record of safe driving.
Physical Demands And Working Conditions
Individuals in this position will be required to undergo additional training and certifications to comply with GAF Energy safety policies, such as OSHA 30, NFPA 70e, First Aid/CPR, and others.
Travel throughout the US may be required. Up to 50% travel with frequent overnight stays is possible.
When in the field, the role will be expected to perform tasks similar to those of an electrician or field service technician, including work on residential roofs and in attic spaces.
This is a remote-based position, and candidates are expected to work from home when not working in the field. This includes frequent online meetings, on-camera presentations, and phone calls.
Individuals hired for this position can reasonably expect a base salary within the range of $70,000 - $100,000 and an annual bonus. Applications are accepted on an ongoing basis until the position is filled
