Job summary

Green Thumb Industries is seeking a Regional Procurement Buyer to manage purchasing across cannabis production facilities in the U.S. This role focuses on indirect materials, grow supplies, and MRO, driving strategic sourcing, vendor management, and cross-functional collaboration.

You will optimize inventory, reduce total cost of ownership, and support scalable operations in partnership with the corporate team and production sites, with occasional on-site visits (1x monthly for MA locations).

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Business, Agriculture, or related field; CSCP/CPSM preferred.
  • 3-5 years of procurement experience in agriculture, cannabis, CPG, or manufacturing, with indirect spend focus.
  • Familiarity with cannabis cultivation, MRO sourcing, and regulatory compliance.
  • Proficient in ERP/MRP systems, inventory platforms, and Microsoft Office.
  • Strong problem-solving, analytical, and organizational skills.
  • Effective communicator with a proactive, collaborative, solutions-focused mindset.

Responsibilities

  • Create and manage purchase orders in ERP; monitor shipments and coordinate deliveries.
  • Engage established vendors; onboard new suppliers as needed.
  • Ensure PO accuracy and maintain procurement records and reports.
  • Communicate with vendors and internal teams on order status and invoicing.
  • Collaborate with cultivation and facilities to forecast supply needs and maintain inventory.
  • Develop purchasing strategies to minimize shortages and excess stock.
  • Leverage ERP data to drive cost-effective buying decisions.
  • Ensure purchases meet cannabis regulations; coordinate with Compliance/QA.
  • Monitor supplier performance on cost, service, quality.
  • Support indirect procurement strategies and process improvements.
  • Serve as SME for assigned areas; support ERP/MRP configuration and training.
  • Manage supplier relationships and logistics; ensure on-time delivery.
  • Collaborate with warehouse to optimize storage and handling.
  • Lead negotiations for bulk purchases and secure favorable terms.
  • Align with Grow Operations and Facilities for grow cycles and equipment needs.
  • Coordinate with Finance and Compliance on budgets and reporting.
  • Educate stakeholders on procurement workflows and compliance.

Job description

The Role

The Regional Procurement Buyer is a key member of the Procurement team, responsible for managing purchasing activities across assigned cannabis production facilities. The primary focus area includes: purchasing & ownership of cultivation-related indirect materials, grow supplies, and MRO, with additional support for categories such as Professional Services, IT, Marketing, Facilities, and HR. This role ensures the timely, cost-effective, and compliant procurement of goods and services to meet site needs with a focus on strategic sourcing, vendor management, and cross-functional collaboration. The Buyer plays a critical role in optimizing inventory, reducing total cost of ownership, and enabling scalable operations in collaboration with the corporate team and the production facilities.

If Chicago based expected to go into office 1x a week

If Massachusetts based need to go to Holyoke/Clinton location 1x a month

Responsibilities

Purchase Order Management

  • Create and manage purchase orders in ERP systems; monitor shipments, coordinate deliveries, and confirm paymentsEngageestablishedvendorsfor required needs, new vendors specific to sitesfor pricing, product availability, and lead times; onboard new suppliers as neededunder corporate procurement guidance.
  • Ensure PO accuracy and resolve discrepancies promptly;maintainorganized records and procurement reports.
  • Communicate with vendors and internal teams to track order status, delivery schedules, and invoicing.

Inventory & Demand Planning

  • Collaborate with cultivation and facilities teams to forecast supply needs andmaintainoptimalinventory levels.
  • Develop purchasing strategies to minimize shortages and excess stock while supporting seamlessgrowoperations.
  • Leverage web-based tools and ERP data to drive efficient and cost-effective buying decisions.

Quality & Compliance

  • Ensure purchases meet internal quality standards and cannabis industry regulations.
  • Partner with Compliance and QA teams to provide documentation and resolve issues.
  • Monitor supplier performance across cost, service, and quality metrics.

Procurement Operations & Logistics

  • Contribute to the development and execution of indirect procurement strategies and continuous process improvement initiatives to drive operational efficiency.
  • Serve as the subject matter expert (SME) for assigned procurement areas/categories, providing end-to-end support for ERP/MRP systems-including configuration, training rollout, and policy enforcement-in collaboration with Corporate Procurement.
  • Manage supplier relationships, coordinatelogistics, and ensure on-time delivery of materials and services within the assigned region.
  • Collaborate closely with warehouse and inventory teams tooptimizestorage, material handling, and distribution of inputs and maintenance, repair, and operations (MRO) supplies.
  • Lead negotiations for bulk or one-time purchases,leveragingdata and vendor insights to secure favorable terms and value-added services.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Align closely with Grow Operations and Facilities teams to supporttimelyprocurement forgrowcycles and equipment needs.
  • Coordinate with Finance and Compliance to ensure procurement aligns with regulatory and budgetary standards.
  • Educate internal stakeholders on procurement workflows and compliance with best practices.

  • Must be and remain compliant with all legal or company regulations for working in the industry
  • Must possess valid driver's license
  • Must be a minimum of 21 years of age
  • Must be approved by state badging agency to work in cannabis industry

The pay range is competitive and based on experience, qualifications, and/or location of the role. Positions may be eligible for a discretionary annual incentive program driven by organization and individual performance.
