Job summary

Community and Family Resources is seeking a Prevention Supervisor to oversee prevention operations in accordance with approved grants and contracts for our Eastern and Central Iowa locations. The role includes supervising regional prevention staff, maintaining relations with community partners and state agencies, and ensuring high-quality prevention services and reporting.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in public or community health, marketing, public relations, or related area and two years of relevant work experience preferred.
• Bachelor's Degree and three years of relevant experience required in lieu of Master’s degree.
• Must be a Certified Prevention Specialist or obtain certification within 18 months from date of hire.
• A valid driver's license and reliable transportation are required.

Responsibilities

• Maintain public relations between the agency prevention department and community resources.
• Provide support, consultation, reinforcement and coordination to area communities, task forces, and agencies for prevention activities.
• Deliver Prevention Services to clients.
• Maintain contact with the Iowa Department of Health and Human Services and prevention specialists to develop new prevention programming.
• Supervise the Eastern and Central region Prevention Staff, including training and performance management.
• Keep informed about new information relevant to substance abuse prevention and share with staff.
• Prepare prevention reports for the Iowa Department of Health and Human Services and other funders.
• Assist in securing additional funding.
• Monitor budget to actual and advise on fiscal needs.
• Develop and write policies and procedures for the Prevention Department as needed.

Education

Master's degree in public health / related area

Bachelor's degree with 3+ years experience

Certified Prevention Specialist (within 18 months)

Valid driver's license
