Job summary

The Salvation Army seeks a Regional Planned Giving Director to cultivate, solicit, secure, document and steward planned gifts for the Western Texas region. This role focuses on gifts such as wills, trusts, charitable gift annuities, and beneficiary designations to support the Mission.

The ideal candidate will manage donor portfolios, engage with advisors, and present strategies to boards. Regional travel within Western Texas is required, and home-office setup is supported.

Qualifications

  • Three years’ experience in fundraising, including planned giving or related fields.
  • Proven ability to build strong relationships with individual donors or clients.
  • Excellent oral and written communication, including public presentations.

Responsibilities

  • Cultivate and maintain relationships with donors and their professional advisors.
  • Respond to inquiries and communicate with donors, prospects, board members, Salvation Army staff and Officers.
  • Conduct personal visits, discuss planned giving vehicles, and assist with charitable estate planning decisions.
  • Educate advisory boards and present planned giving strategies and success stories.
  • Attend conferences and training, stay updated on planned giving practices and tax implications.
  • Travel within Western Texas (Amarillo, Lubbock, Big Spring, Midland, Odessa, Abilene, San Angelo, El Paso).
  • Ideal candidate to reside in Lubbock, Midland/Odessa, or Abilene, TX.

About this opportunity

This position is responsible for cultivating, soliciting, securing, documenting, and stewarding planned gifts, such as wills, charitable trusts, charitable gift annuities, beneficiary designations and other gift strategies to fund the Mission of The Salvation Army.

Key Responsibilities
  • Cultivates and maintains strong relationships with donors and their professional advisors.
  • Responds to inquiries and communicates with donors, prospects, advisory board members, Salvation Army staff and Officers.
  • Conducts personal visits after identifying prospects, consults with individuals about specific planned giving vehicles and assists them in their charitable estate planning to help them decide on the most appropriate planned gift for their personal circumstances.
  • Educates advisory boards and presents planned giving success stories and strategies.
  • Attends and participates in conferences and training sessions, maintains up-to-date knowledge and awareness of planned giving practices and legislation in relation to planned giving and taxation.
  • Travels often within the following region of Western Texas including Amarillo, Lubbock, Big Spring, Midland, Odessa, Abilene, San Angelo, and El Paso.
  • Ideal candidate to reside in the following: Lubbock, Midland/Odessa, or Abilene, Texas area.
You are an ideal match for the role if you have
  • Three years’ experience achieving results in the fundraising field; planned giving, major gifts, development, capital campaigns or related (financial advisor, outside territorial sales, etc.).
  • Bachelor’s degree (preferred but not required).
  • Demonstrated ability and experience building strong relationships with individual clients.
  • Demonstrated self-starter, and ability to work with minimal supervision from a personal home office.
  • Experience actively developing, cultivating, stewarding, and managing a portfolio of donors (or prospects).
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, including public presentations.
