Job summary

Overview

A Club4Fitness Regional Personal Training Manager is responsible for recruiting, hiring, onboarding, and mentoring new and existing personal trainers to become acclimated to the performance expectations of the Club4Fitness personal training program and to ensure that the program grows and/or maintains targeted levels of monthly production. The manager must demonstrate a thorough understanding of the personal trainer position, organizational and departmental policies, and must disseminate changes in policy, procedure, or performance expectations to the department in a clear, concise, and timely manner while representing the organization positively.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities
  • Assist the Personal Training Director in recruiting, hiring, and onboarding new Personal Training Managers for the assigned region.
  • Provide new personal training managers with a specific schedule of onboarding activities covering the first 30 days of employment.
  • Schedule trainings to ensure that personal training staff develop a thorough working knowledge of the current POS system.
  • Coach personal trainers on running an effective consultation for prospective training clients; shadow previously trained personal trainers to evaluate their proficiency in providing client consultations.
  • Instill in the personal training staff all fundamental skills related to efficient appointment setting for fitness consultations and overall prospecting within the assigned personal training department.
  • Lead all personal training staff by example in knowing, following, and understanding specific personal training and C4F policies and procedures, with an emphasis on full understanding of current personal training cancel/freeze policies and procedures.
  • Conduct session quality reviews of existing personal training staff within the assigned region.
  • Support the Personal Training Director by disseminating new personal training sales strategies as rolled out.
  • Perform consults (monthly minimums as determined by the Personal Training Director).
  • Understand departmental KPIs and metrics to support club and organizational efforts to improve overall personal training sales growth and guide the development of individual personal trainers.
  • Promote client retention in assigned clubs by maintaining a strong team of skilled professionals and providing support, direction, and education as needed.
  • Train (and assign) personal training staff on monthly trainer business plans as well as daily/weekly reporting.
  • Oversee assigned PT managers and leads within the region, working closely with them and all PT staff to ensure company financial and customer satisfaction goals are met.
  • Drive the implementation of company programs by motivating and supporting the club team within the region to develop and implement action plans that meet operational and organizational objectives.
  • Assist in the achievement of club PT goals within assigned clubs.
  • Identify, interview, and hire personal training managers and assist PT managers in hiring additional PT staff in assigned clubs.
  • Demonstrate successful leadership and techniques – both sales, training, and recruiting/hiring; lead by example.
  • Train, coach, monitor PT team successes, and hold PT managers accountable at assigned clubs.
  • Counsel, discipline, and terminate PT managers, and assist PT managers when addressing these matters with PT staff in assigned clubs.
  • Communicate effectively with upper management about successes, deficiencies, concerns, and areas of improvement regarding the assigned region.
  • Communicate and drive company policy, procedure, and vision in all areas of management.
  • Drive PT revenue through personal sales meeting minimum requirements for the Regional PT position as well as through effective management of assigned PT teams.
  • May maintain a regular personal training schedule alongside responsibilities described above, as determined by the Personal Training Director.
Personal Training Schedule (optional)
  • Deliver fast-paced, pre-designed workouts to medium and large groups of clients.
  • Lead and motivate clients throughout intense training sessions.
  • Build and maintain a highly engaged member participation base.
  • Practice what is preached and live a lifestyle similar to the way clients want to live theirs.
  • Ensure safety of participants in regard to exercise technique and participation of boot camp activities, modifying exercises as needed for varying skill levels.
  • Attend weekly and monthly fitness meetings and required educational presentations.
  • Maintain member engagement through social media and promote the brand.
  • Act as a fitness leader in the community.
Uncovered Clubs

Cover unstaffed clubs/Clubs without a PTM to ensure a fully functional PT department.

Organizational Relationships

The position reports directly to the Personal Training Director assigned to the PTM’s Club facility.

Qualifications
  1. Knowledge, skills & abilities:
  • Experienced Certified Personal Trainer with previous experience.
  • Knowledge of physiology, exercise technique, and body mechanics to assess and provide guidance for women during pregnancy, members recovering from illness or injury, and for improving repetitive motions or offering alternatives to endurance or strength training activities.
  • Ability to pass a personal training Strength and Conditioning assessment.
  • Detail- and results-oriented with a high degree of professionalism and organizational skills and an ability to multitask.
  • Positive, motivating, and effective interpersonal communication skills.
  • Desire and capacity to train all fitness levels.
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills, including a gregarious personality, innate ability to motivate, and unstoppable energy.
  • Demonstrated ability to work autonomously and collaboratively within teams.
  1. Minimum certifications / education / experience level:
  • High School Diploma or equivalent (GED) is required; a 2‑ or 4‑year degree in exercise science or a related field is preferred.
  • Previous personal training sales experience is a plus.
  • Must hold a current fitness certification from an approved education company such as ACSM, ACE, NASM, NCSA, AFFA, NFPT (NCCA Certified).
  • Must be CPR/AED certified.

Work Environment
  • Mental Demands: reading; ability to communicate effectively (verbal and written); maintain emotional control under pressure.
  • Physical Demands / Environmental Factors: frequent interruptions; climbing, stretching, light lifting of equipment; occasional lifting of up to 50 pounds; use of computer with repetitive hand motions.
  • Regulated air temperature and humidity in gym facilities and office environment; may be elevated during group and personal exercise activities.
  • Regular standing, walking, crouching, kneeling, stretching, lifting required.
  • Sitting, close reading, and typing required.
  • Noise level is generally low but may be louder and more intense in gym facilities.
  • Travel will be required as described above.
Hours and Schedule

Hours are scheduled but may also include early mornings, late evenings, and some weekend assignments. Special occasions and activities requiring extended hours of availability related to events, launches, club openings, etc., may be required. The RPTM may also be expected to “fill in” when a PTM is unavailable.

Most common schedule (subject to pre‑approval by the Personal Training Director):

  • Mon – Thurs: 9 a.m. to 7 p.m.
  • Fridays: 9 a.m. – 5 p.m.
  • Sat/Sundays: Assigned specifically.
  • In new clubs, the RPTM will be assigned to work two of the first four Saturdays after club opening.
