Overview
A Club4Fitness PT Manager is responsible for recruiting, hiring, onboarding, and mentoring new and existing personal trainers to ensure they meet the performance expectations of the Club4Fitness personal training program and maintain targeted monthly production levels. The PT Manager must demonstrate full proficiency in the personal trainer role, understand organizational and departmental policies, communicate changes effectively, and represent the organization positively.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Provide new personal training staff with a specific schedule of onboarding activities covering the first 30 days of employment and personally mentor them or assign the coaching responsibility to the Assistant PT Manager when appropriate.
- Schedule trainings to ensure staff develop thorough knowledge of the Peak or ABC Financial point of sale system, as applicable to each CLUB4 facility.
- Coach personal trainers on conducting effective client consultations; shadow previously trained trainers to evaluate proficiency.
- Instill fundamental skills related to appointment setting for fitness consultations and overall prospecting within the assigned training department.
- Lead all personal training staff by example, ensuring understanding of specific training policies and procedures, with emphasis on current cancel/freeze policies.
- Conduct session quality reviews of existing personal training staff.
- Assign clients to new trainers.
- Support the Personal Training Director in engaging new member clients by disseminating new personal training sales strategies.
- Perform consults as determined by the Personal Training Director (minimums are monthly).
- Understand departmental KPIs and metrics to support club and organizational sales growth and guide individual trainer development.
- Promote client retention by providing support, direction, and education to all CLUB4 PT teams as needed.
- Train and assign staff on monthly trainer business plans and daily/weekly reporting.
- Provide support at new CLUBs during grand openings.
- Coordinate with the PT Director to develop a game plan for each CLUB4 facility visit, focusing on sales, recruiting, training, development, booking, and prospecting.
- Assist the PT Director with scheduled interviews during the week of the visit.
- Submit required daily/weekly/monthly assignments and reports to PTD/Regionals.
- Demonstrate proficiency in Trainerize (working knowledge).
- Maintain high customer‑service standards through clear communication with members and staff.
- Conduct regular audits, including quality control checks, client binder inspections, Trainerize profile reviews, consultation worksheets, and calendar management.
- Follow all guidelines outlined in the Personal Trainer job description.
Organizational Relationships
The position reports directly to the Personal Training Director assigned to the PTM’s Club facility.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications
- Knowledge, skills & abilities:
- Certified Personal Trainer with experience training private clients.
- Knowledge of physiology, exercise technique, and body mechanics; able to assess and provide guidance for pregnancy, injury recovery, and various training needs.
- Ability to pass a strength and conditioning assessment.
- Detail‑ and results‑oriented with strong professionalism, organizational skills, and multitasking ability.
- Positive, motivating, effective interpersonal communication.
- Capability to train all fitness levels.
- High level of presence across social media.
- CPR/AED certification.
- Excellent communication and customer service skills, with an engaging personality and high energy.
- Ability to work autonomously and collaboratively within teams.
- Minimum certifications/education/experience level:
- High School Diploma or GED; 2‑ or 4‑year degree in exercise science or related field preferred.
- Previous personal training sales experience is a plus.
- Current fitness certification from an approved provider (ACSM, ACE, NASM, NCSA, AFFA, NFPT, or equivalent).
- CPR/AED certification.

Work environment characteristics include:

- Regulated air temperature and humidity; elevated levels during group and personal exercise activities.

- Sitting, reading, and typing required.
- Low noise level in office but can be louder in gym facilities.
- Hours include early mornings, late evenings, weekends, and extended hours for events and club openings; flexibility required.
- Lead Personal Trainer may be required to fill in when PTM is unavailable.
Work schedules are standardized and changes must be pre‑approved by the Personal Training Director.
