Job summary

County of Los Angeles Department of Parks and Recreation seeks a qualified Emergency Regional Park Superintendent II. The role covers management of park facilities, environmental education, and community outreach, with a path to permanent appointment after the initial 90-day period.

Responsibilities include coordinating sustainability and conservation projects, overseeing exhibits and maintenance, budgeting, and collaborating with stakeholders across departments and with the community.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a relevant field and two years supervising staff.
• Experience supervising staff and managing an Environmental Justice Center, museum, or similar facility with educational, interactive activities and programs.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate sustainability projects, conservation efforts, habitat restoration, and environmental justice programs.
• Manage environmental education workshops, school field trips, interpretive programs, and community outreach events.
• Supervise interactive exhibits and collections; inspect facilities for maintenance of buildings, grounds, trails, and water areas.
• Maintain relationships with other County departments, agencies, and community organizations; ensure contractors comply with contracts.
• Plan restoration projects for historic buildings, artifacts, and gardens; participate in facility development and community meetings.
• Prepare budgets, records, reports, and fee-collection systems; interact with stakeholders on park operations and programs.
