Job summary

Uber is seeking a Safety Program Manager to oversee safety initiatives for its autonomous vehicle (AV) fleet operations in the United States. You will own the risk-management framework, drive SMS adoption, and coordinate with internal teams and partners to meet regulatory and safety standards.

This hybrid role requires data-driven decision making and collaboration to scale safety practices across Uber's mobility ecosystem.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Safety, Engineering (Any), or related field, with 3 years of experience in the job offered or related occupation; or 5 years of experience in the job offered or related occupation.
• Experience implementing and managing safety management programs in transportation.
• Experience with SMS, risk assessments, incidents, analysis, and safety program execution in ride-hail/transportation.

• Support the establishment and maintenance of an effective safety program for AV fleet operators and partners.
• Assist in developing and executing safety programs for AV fleet operations.
• Ensure infrastructure, operations, and processes meet safety regulatory requirements and internal standards.
• Support internal and external partners on SMS best practices.
• Execute and support operational safety programs specific to vehicle operator use.
• Manage safety programs from inception to operation while achieving strategic objectives.
• Engage AV partners on Safety Assurance and Risk Management activities.
• May telecommute.

Rate of Pay: $131,000 to $160,000 per Year

Basic Qualifications

• Employer will accept a Bachelor's degree in Safety, Engineering (Any), or related field, and three years of experience in the job offered or in a related occupation. OR employer will accept five years of experience in the job offered or in a related occupation.
• Position requires:
  • Supporting the implementation and management of safety management programs in a transportation sector;
  • Safety operations;
  • Risk assessments and mitigations;
  • Incident response;
  • Project management;
  • Supporting or executing safety programs related to operational activities in the ride-hail / transportation industry;
  • SMS frameworks;
  • Performing data analysis and statistical analysis of operational safety data to generate safety performance indicators.
