Job summary

Merck seeks a Regional Medical Scientific Director (RMSD) to advance oncology scientific exchange with external leaders. You will provide balanced, factual information, support investigator-initiated trials, and respond to scientific questions while avoiding promotional activity.

The role emphasizes scientific leadership, collaboration with Global Clinical Trial Operations, and education of internal teams in the science behind therapies. Travel up to 50% within the territory is expected.

Qualifications

• Clinical (patient care) or deep research experience in oncology.
• Minimum 3 years' experience and proven therapeutic competence in oncology.
• Ability to conduct doctoral level discussions with external stakeholders.
• Strong focus on scientific education and dialogue.
• Knowledge of FDA, HIPAA, OIG and other regulations.
• Excellent interpersonal and networking skills.
• Organizational adaptability in a dynamic environment.

Responsibilities

• Develop relationships with national and regional scientific leaders to share medical information.
• Conduct peer-to-peer scientific discussions and maintain a reliable medical contact.
• Support Company-Sponsored Trials and address investigator questions.
• Initiate discussions with potential investigators to assess interest/qualification.
• Recommend study sites to GCTO/Clinical Research.
• Address investigator requests for information and guidance.
• Attend scientific and medical meetings.
