Responsibilities

  • Conduct audits, reviews, and education to improve clinical outcomes
  • Participate in care conferences and support clinical staff training
  • Perform comprehensive assessments and support nurse staffing and supervision
  • Review medication administration practices and QA/QAPI interventions
  • Travel regionally to facilities up to 75% and work on-site as required
  • Collaborate with leadership and interdisciplinary teams to resolve issues

Job Summary

The Regional Nursing Consultant provides clinical leadership, oversight, and support to assigned skilled nursing facilities to ensure high-quality resident care, regulatory compliance, and adherence to established nursing standards and resident rights. This role supports the implementation of facility policies and state regulations, verifies the accuracy and quality of clinical documentation, and provides ongoing leadership, training, and evaluation of nursing care practices.

This position requires regular regional travel.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Ensure assigned facilities are compliant with organizational policies, procedures, and all applicable state and federal regulations

  • Interpret, implement, and reinforce company policies and clinical standards

  • Conduct quarterly clinical audits, including resident records, medication rooms, and QA/QAPI interventions

  • Participate in care conferences as requested or as clinically indicated

  • Perform comprehensive assessments for potential residents as needed

  • Provide ongoing clinical education, training, and support to nursing and care staff

  • Review Electronic Medication Administration Records (eMAR) to ensure medication room compliance

  • Conduct monthly supervisory visits to medication passers in states allowing RN delegation

  • Monitor wound care practices to ensure appropriateness, effectiveness, and regulatory compliance

  • Monitor the appropriate use of medical supplies and ensure ordering aligns with facility needs

  • Attend required meetings and collaborate effectively with leadership, interdisciplinary teams, residents, families, and visitors

  • Review incident reports and follow-up documentation to ensure state-reportable incidents are properly identified, reported, and documented

  • Assist with hiring, training, scheduling, and supervision of facility staff as needed

  • Address complaints, identify issues, and support timely resolution

  • Perform other related duties as assigned

Qualifications
  • Minimum of five (5) years of nursing management experience, with experience in long-term care
  • Active, unencumbered Registered Nurse (RN) license in the applicable state

  • Strong working knowledge of:

    • Professional nursing standards

    • Restorative and personal care services

    • Long-term care regulations and compliance requirements

  • Ability to read, interpret, and prepare reports, policies, and professional correspondence

  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to handle sensitive and confidential matters professionally

  • Valid driver’s license

  • Willingness and ability to travel within the assigned region (up to 75%)
