The Role - Regional Membership Manager

The regional membership manager supervises a regional team and the implementation of the council’s membership strategy, annual plans, and membership goals in specific geographic areas. She/he will develop, implement, customize, and measure ways to engage and build deeper relationships with our community volunteers and the community at large to support our organizational mission, goals, and strategic priorities. She/he reports to the membership director.

This is a full-time role working 37.5 hours per week that is benefits eligible.


What you will be doing:

  • Leadership: Model high levels of performance, dedication, and commitment and adapt leadership style to encourage individual members of her/his regional team to achieve goals.
  • Oral and written communication: Express ideas and facts clearly and understandably, listen with compassion, demonstrate the ability to work with a wide range of sensitive and confidential issues, and provide excellent communication in person, on the phone, and through email with diverse groups of people.
  • Project management: Demonstrate ability to coordinate multiple projects while managing other priorities and deadlines; formulate short- and long-term project goals, objectives, and schedules; and anticipate and solve obstacles that may impact plans or actions.
  • Judgment, decision-making, and problem-solving: Recognize when immediate action is required to solve a challenge or obstacle.
  • Team-builder: Lead and inspire individual contributions on a cross-functional team with a shared vision to delight our members; collaborate proactively with volunteers and staff; create an environment of transparency, information-sharing, and accessibility; and recognize and reward team accomplishments.
  • Budget administration: Understand and apply budgeting principles to accurately prepare, integrate, and report on project and/or operational budgets in their assigned areas.
  • Volunteer relations: Embrace flexible and customized approaches to inspiring and coaching volunteers from diverse backgrounds and situations, providing growth and development opportunities, and recognizing contributions and accomplishments.
  • Community minded: Assist and support the community specialist in cultivating and maintaining relationships with local community partners. Serve as a partner and advocate for each community. Recruit, develop, and foster community partnerships and volunteer involvement to help strengthen our visibility.
  • Data-driven: Along with the assistance of the membership director, deliver results by analyzing data, using survey results to customize plans, reviewing trends, and sharing findings in understandable ways with volunteers and staff.

The skills you will use:

  • Bachelor’s degree required or equivalent relevant experience (customer service/retail/membership sales).
  • Minimum 3-5 years’ experience and demonstrated track record.
  • Conversational Spanish (preferred, but not required).
  • Project manager, strategic thinker, highly organized, demonstrated hands-on experience with proven ability to multitask, handle pressure, and meet deadlines.
  • Ability to speak passionately and with conviction about the Girl Scout Mission and its importance to the public.
  • Ability to keep difficult conversations on track, remain personable, and provide a positive experience throughout.
  • Ability to motivate prospective partners, volunteers, and families to commit to Girl Scouts.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Technical computer skills in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and Outlook); customer relationship management systems (Salesforce); and social networking tools.
  • Demonstrated ability to foster teamwork and influence others to achieve results.
  • Interacts successfully with volunteers, including selection, assignment of responsibilities, supervision, and recognition of accomplishments.
  • Understands and applies budgeting principles to accurately prepare, integrate, and report on project and/or operational budgets.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends.
  • Reliable vehicle and current insurance to travel as needed within the council jurisdiction.
  • Experience and sensitivity in working with diverse people.


Compensation: $58,656 annually
