Day to day as a Regional Medical Associate Director/Director (RMD), Scientific Communications - REMOTE

The Regional Medical Associate Director/Director, Scientific Communications at Beacon Therapeutics will be instrumental in advancing our mission by cultivating strong relationships with Key Opinion Leaders (KOLs) and study investigators. In this pivotal role, you will lead the design and implementation of comprehensive scientific communication and publication strategies that effectively convey our innovative research findings and therapeutic advancements. Your expertise will be critical in ensuring that our scientific narratives resonate within the ophthalmology community, guiding impactful medical conversations and enhancing our reputation in the biotech landscape. What you need to be successful

To excel as the Regional Medical Associate Director/Director, Scientific Communications at Beacon Therapeutics, candidates must possess a robust background in ophthalmology field medical affairs within the pharmaceutical or biotech sectors. A proven track record in scientific communications and publications, whether gained in pharma, biotech, or healthcare agencies, is essential. The ability to collaboratively lead Medical Affairs projects cross-functionally is crucial, as is a full understanding of relevant legal and healthcare compliance policies and frameworks.

Familiarity with global publication guidelines, including the International Committee of Medical Journal Editors (ICMJE), as well as copyright clearance agreements, will be vital to navigate the complexities of this role. Candidates must demonstrate excellent oral and written communication skills, showcasing innovation in creating impactful materials. Additionally, strong relationship-building skills, strategic thinking, and proficiency in Microsoft Office applications are necessary, alongside a customer-focused mindset and experience in late-stage development or launch particularly in retina gene therapy or rare diseases.

Knowledge and skills required for the position are:

  • Ophthalmology Field Medical Affairs experience in pharma or biotech
  • Scientific Communications / Publications experience in pharma/biotech or healthcare agency
  • Collaboratively led Medical Affairs projects cross-functionally
  • Full understanding of the relevant Legal and Health Care compliance policies and frameworks for medical affairs field. Understanding of global publication guidelines International Committee of Medical Journal Editors (ICMJE) as well as copyright clearance agreements for all publications are essential to this role
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills required including ability to innovate and create new materials to be used both internally and externally
  • Experienced and strategic thinker and relationship builder; proven ability and leadership skills to work with multiple teams and drive results within a rapidly evolving operating model
  • Excellent computer skills with Microsoft Office applications
  • Strong customer focus with a passion for customer-facing engagement
  • Late-stage development/launch experience preferred
  • Experience in retina, gene therapy, and/or rare disease strongly preferred
