Job description

We are looking for a friendly, reliable, and long-term candidate to provide clinical leadership in the development, implementation, coordination, and evaluation of MDS services across multiple facilities. The MDS Consultant will support quality care and fiscal responsibility through comprehensive MDS training and support services for the assigned region. You will be responsible for the training and program review of MDS Services in accordance with Federal, State, and Local laws and governing entity regulations. Qualifications
  • Currently licensed as RN in the state practiced.
  • Associate or bachelor’s degree from an accredited nursing school required.
  • Minimum of five (5) years in long-term or acute health care required.
  • Minimum of five (5) years working as an MDS Nurse in long-term or acute health care.
  • At least three (3) years of multi-facility, regional MDS experience.
Responsibilities
  • Consult with and provide technical assistance to MDS Coordinators through visits and interpretation of policies and regulations.
  • Train new MDS Coordinators on resident assessments, developing care plans, evaluating responses, and documenting clinical records.
  • Train new MDS Coordinators on the RAI manual and all applicable deadlines for assessments and MDS completion.
  • Monitor compliance with standards and regulations in MDS practices.
  • Inspect facilities and nursing practices for compliance with standards and regulations.
  • May serve as interim MDS Coordinator as needed.
  • Train facility MDS staff on company best practices and ensure coordinated compliance efforts.
  • Lead facility management in developing and working from a business plan focusing on clinical operations.
  • Develop and implement metrics and benchmarks for quality of care.
  • Advise and direct the Clinical Support Team and Director of Nursing to maximize resident satisfaction and wellbeing.
  • Establish standardized practices to improve care quality and safety.
  • Develop and monitor quality management policies and procedures.
  • Assess existing systems for eligibility, referrals, case management, and quality management; provide recommendations.
  • Review clinic information systems for tracking quality indicators and standardize reporting.
  • Ensure adherence to RAI guidelines, accurate and timely resident assessments, and compliance with payer requirements.
  • Manage survey information to address community and service partner priorities.
  • Ensure regulatory compliance and guide facilities to operate within policies.
  • Maintain facility standards, safety, and infection control practices.
  • Assist in preparing for inspections, staff training, and addressing survey findings.
  • Participate in the Plan of Correction and follow-up QA activities.
  • Provide 24-hour emergency on-call service.
  • Ensure adequate orientation and training for MDS personnel.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
