Job description

Regional Manager, Facilities Operations - East & Latin America

Responsible for leading and overseeing facilities operations across multiple locations throughout the Eastern United States and Latin America.

This role serves as the primary regional facilities leader and is accountable for the performance, reliability, maintenance, improvement, and overall workplace operations of a geographically distributed portfolio.

The successful candidate must be highly experienced in managing facilities through internal project managers, external vendors, landlords, contractors, consultants, and third-party service providers, particularly in locations without dedicated onsite Facilities personnel.

This position requires strong independent judgment, operational leadership, vendor management, project oversight, and the ability to travel frequently across multiple cities.

The role will be based on the East Coast and will report directly to the Facilities/Workplace leadership team at the company's Silicon Valley headquarters.

Key Responsibilities
Multi-Site Facilities Operations

Lead Facilities operations across multiple offices and sites throughout the Eastern United States and Latin America.

Ensure facilities are safe, reliable, well maintained, professional, and operating according to company standards.

Oversee preventive and corrective maintenance programs, including HVAC, electrical, plumbing, building systems, and general facility repairs.

Establish consistent Facilities standards, processes, service levels, and operating procedures across all assigned locations.

Serve as the senior escalation point for significant facility issues and operational emergencies.

Vendor & Service Provider Management

Manage and hold accountable third-party Facilities service providers, contractors, landlords, property managers, and vendors.

Develop and monitor vendor KPIs, SLAs, service quality, response times, costs, and performance.

Lead vendor selection, contract negotiations, renewals, and performance reviews.

Ensure vendors deliver consistent service across locations where no dedicated onsite Facilities staff are available.

Project & PM Oversight

Provide leadership and oversight for office renovations, tenant improvements, expansions, relocations, infrastructure upgrades, and other Facilities projects.

Partner closely with internal and external project managers to ensure projects meet scope, budget, schedule, quality, and business requirements.

Provide executive-level oversight rather than functioning solely as the day-to-day project manager.

Review project risks, budgets, schedules, design decisions, change orders, and contractor performance.

Data Center & Critical Infrastructure Projects

Support or lead Facilities-related Data Center construction, expansion, infrastructure upgrades, and critical-environment projects as required.

Coordinate with engineering, IT, network, security, consultants, contractors, and project management teams.

Ensure reliability, resiliency, safety, and operational requirements are incorporated into project planning and execution.

Financial Management

Develop and manage regional Facilities operating and capital budgets.

Forecast Facilities expenses and capital requirements.

Review project budgets, vendor proposals, service contracts, and capital expenditure requests.

Identify opportunities to improve service while controlling operating costs.

Regional Leadership

Act as the Facilities owner for the assigned region, even where dedicated onsite Facilities teams do not exist.

Build strong working relationships with local office leadership, Project Management, IT, Security, EHS, HR, Finance, Procurement, and other corporate functions.

Provide regular reporting to Silicon Valley headquarters regarding facility conditions, major issues, project status, budget, risks, and priorities.

Establish scalable processes that allow a distributed regional portfolio to operate consistently and effectively.

Travel

Travel frequently throughout the Eastern United States and Latin America to inspect sites, manage escalations, oversee projects, meet vendors, and support local offices.

Travel to Silicon Valley headquarters periodically for planning, budget reviews, project reviews, and leadership meetings.

Qualifications

12-15+ years of progressive experience in Corporate Facilities, Workplace Operations, Corporate Real Estate, or related functions.

5+ years of experience leading multi-site or regional Facilities operations.

Demonstrated experience managing geographically distributed facilities without relying on dedicated onsite Facilities personnel.

Strong experience managing vendors, contractors, landlords, property managers, and third-party Facilities service providers.

Significant experience overseeing office renovations, tenant improvements, infrastructure projects, and capital projects.

Experience working with project managers and managing multiple concurrent projects.

Data Center, critical facility, laboratory, manufacturing, or other technically complex facility experience strongly preferred.

Strong knowledge of Facilities operations, building systems, preventive maintenance, workplace standards, budgeting, procurement, contracts, and vendor management.

Proven ability to operate independently, make decisions, resolve issues, and manage competing priorities across multiple locations.

Strong executive communication and stakeholder management skills.

Ability and willingness to travel frequently.

Ideal Candidate Profile

The ideal candidate is not simply a traditional Facilities Manager.

This individual should be a strong regional operator who can independently manage a large, distributed portfolio through project managers, vendors, contractors, landlords, and service providers.

The successful candidate should be comfortable moving between strategic leadership and hands-on problem solving and must be capable of building structure and accountability in a region that does not have a large dedicated Facilities organization.
