Job summary

Alhambra Health and Rehabilitation Center is seeking a Regional Maintenance Technician to service multiple skilled nursing facilities. You will perform preventive maintenance, respond to requests, assist with repairs, and maintain safety and appearance across all buildings and grounds.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Two years of experience in building maintenance, facilities maintenance, landscaping, or a related field.
  • Valid Florida driver’s license with an acceptable driving record.
  • Ability to travel regularly between assigned facilities.
  • Ability to safely operate landscaping and maintenance equipment.

Responsibilities

  • Perform routine maintenance and repairs to buildings, equipment, and facility systems.
  • Respond promptly to maintenance work orders.
  • Repair doors, locks, cabinets, walls, ceilings, flooring, windows, and other building components.
  • Perform basic plumbing repairs including faucets, toilets, sinks, and drains.
  • Perform minor electrical repairs such as replacing switches, outlets, fixtures, and light bulbs within the scope of training.
  • Complete minor carpentry, painting, and drywall repairs.
  • Assist with HVAC preventive maintenance and coordinate repairs with outside contractors when necessary.
  • Maintain maintenance logs and documentation.
  • Inspect resident rooms and common areas for repair needs.
  • Maintain emergency equipment and building systems.
  • Report equipment failures requiring specialized repair.
  • Assist with life safety inspections and corrective actions.

Job description

Position Summary

The Regional Maintenance Technician is responsible for providing maintenance, repair, landscaping, and groundskeeping services for multiple skilled nursing facilities. This position performs preventive maintenance, responds to maintenance requests, assists with minor construction and repairs, and maintains the appearance, safety, and functionality of all buildings and grounds. The Regional Maintenance Technician travels between assigned facilities and works closely with each facility’s Administrator and Maintenance Director to ensure a safe, attractive, and well‑maintained environment for residents, visitors, and staff.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Perform routine maintenance and repairs to buildings, equipment, and facility systems.
  • Respond promptly to maintenance work orders.
  • Repair doors, locks, cabinets, walls, ceilings, flooring, windows, and other building components.

  • Assist with life safety inspections and corrective actions. Maintain a safe environment for residents, visitors, and employees.
  • Follow OSHA safety standards.
  • Comply with CMS Life Safety Code requirements.
  • Report hazardous conditions immediately.
  • Assist with fire drills and emergency preparedness activities.
  • Properly store chemicals, paints, fuels, and maintenance supplies. Assist with resident room setup and furniture moves.
  • Hang pictures, bulletin boards, shelving, and signage.
  • Assemble furniture and equipment.
  • Assist vendors and contractors while on‑site.
  • Respond to after‑hours emergency maintenance needs when scheduled.
  • Participate in snow, storm, or hurricane preparation and recovery activities as required.
  • Maintain maintenance records and work orders.
  • Track supplies and equipment needs.
  • Report major repair needs to the Regional Director of Plant Operations.
  • Maintain inventory of tools and maintenance supplies.
  • Complete assigned work orders in a timely manner.
Landscaping and Grounds Maintenance
  • Mow lawns and trim grass.
  • Edge sidewalks and curbs.
  • Trim shrubs, hedges, and ornamental trees.
  • Remove weeds and maintain landscape beds.
  • Plant seasonal flowers and shrubs as directed.
  • Apply mulch and maintain irrigation systems.
  • Pick up litter and debris from parking lots and grounds.
  • Maintain outdoor furniture, fencing, signage, and walkways.
  • Pressure wash sidewalks, entrances, and exterior surfaces as needed.
  • Remove storm debris and assist with hurricane preparedness and recovery.
  • Operate and maintain equipment including:
  • Zero‑turn or riding mower
  • Push mower
  • Weed trimmer
  • Hedge trimmer
  • Leaf blower
  • Pressure washer
  • Power tools
  • Hand tools
  • Utility vehicle or golf cart (if applicable)
Qualifications Required
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Two years of experience in building maintenance, facilities maintenance, landscaping, or a related field.

  • Ability to safely operate landscaping and maintenance equipment.
Preferred
  • Experience in healthcare, skilled nursing, assisted living, or commercial facilities.
  • Experience with preventive maintenance programs.
  • Knowledge of plumbing, electrical, HVAC, carpentry, and painting.
  • Experience with irrigation systems.
  • CPR certification (or willingness to obtain).
