Job summary

FirstService Residential seeks a Roving Maintenance Worker to travel between residential communities performing general maintenance and handyman repairs. Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalency preferred.
• Five years of experience in building custodial, maintenance, and repair work.
• Ability to follow verbal and written directions, keep accurate records, logs and journals.
• May be required to use personal transportation to perform work duties.
• Knowledge of plumbing, wood finishing, electrical and carpentry.
• Ability to operate a variety of hand and power tools.
• Knowledge of methods, materials and equipment used in custodial, maintenance and repair work.

Responsibilities

• Provide regular status updates to the Community Managers.
• Take initiative to act with minimal supervision.
• Recognize and address problems quickly and decisively.
• Promptly respond to emergencies; coordinate with other responders for community safety.
• Complete regular community inspections and prepare status reports.
• Ensure supplies/tools are attended and stored out of sight when possible.
• Perform repairs and document for work orders; inform supervisor as needed.
• Regularly inspect property and replace burned out lights.
• Complete all work orders in a timely fashion.
• Perform preventative maintenance functions.
• Be courteous and pleasant to residents.

Job Overview: As a Roving Maintenance Worker, you will travel between residential communities performing a variety of general property maintenance and handyman-style repairs that help keep our communities safe, clean, and well maintained. This mobile role includes use of a company vehicle and offers the opportunity to work across multiple communities rather than being tied to a single property. In this position, you will perform general repairs, preventative maintenance, inspections, and routine property upkeep to maintain the appearance and functionality of buildings, amenities, and common areas. Typical work includes light plumbing and electrical repairs, fixture replacements, fence and gate repairs, lighting repairs, and general interior and exterior maintenance. This role is well suited for someone with experience in handyman services, residential property maintenance, apartment maintenance, facilities support, landscaping maintenance, or general repair work who enjoys working independently and takes pride in keeping properties safe and well maintained. Your Responsibilities

• Perform minor and major repair of common area buildings and equipment as needed, document for follow through with appropriate work order system and inform supervisor when appropriate.
• Regularly inspect property for, and replace, burned out lights
• Complete all work orders in a timely fashion
• Perform various preventative maintenance functions
• Be courteous and pleasant to residents at all times

Skills & Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalency preferred
• Five years of experience in building custodial, maintenance, and repair work
• Ability to follow verbal and written directions, keep accurate records, fill out logs and journals, and perform administrative operational functions
• May be required to use personal transportation to perform work duties
• Knowledge of basic principles of plumbing, wood finishing, electrical and carpentry
• Ability to operate a variety of hand and power tools, including drills, floor buffer, vacuum, carpet cleaner, power washer and other tools used in building maintenance
• Knowledge of methods, materials and equipment regularly used in custodial, maintenance and repair work

Physical Requirements

• Climb ladders and work at heights above ground level (maximum 3 ft).
• Computer and peripherals, standard and customized software applications and tools, and usual office equipment.
• Must be able to lift 50 lbs or more following appropriate safety procedures
• Must be able to drive and have a valid driver’s license
• Work is performed in a variety of environmental conditions, with exposure to outdoor temperatures, weather variations, traffic and equipment noise, equipment vibrations, vehicle and/or chemical fumes, chemicals such as cleaning solvents and grease, machinery and their moving parts and dust.
• Work duties require the ability to stand and walk on hard surfaces for frequent and prolonged periods of time, and regularly require lifting, bending, stooping, reaching, climbing, push/pull and related physical activities

Compensation

$23-$27 per hour
