Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree from CHEA/USDE-accredited program.
• Five years full-time librarian/teaching or volunteer recruitment experience.
• Master's degree preferred and may substitute for two years of experience.
• SBEC Librarian/Teaching certificate preferred.
• Experience in a correctional environment preferred.
• Position requires personal technology enabling remote work.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Knowledge of library policies and current library practices.

Responsibilities

• Serve as instructional resource consultant and materials specialist to principals, teachers, unit library staff and incarcerated students.
• Assist with developing and maintaining a balanced collection for incarcerated students.
• Train incarcerated student library aides and librarian assistants.
• Advise principal on library materials, equipment, and instructional needs.
• Assist in library inventories and budgets; maintain records on circulation and inventories.
• Maintain and supervise circulation of library materials; propose unit procedures.
• Coordinate volunteer participation and liaison with local public libraries.
• Develop programs to promote job or life skills.
• Develop and maintain training manuals.
• Coordinate with other agencies and TDJC to improve district programs.
• Design and present staff development on library strategies and use of volunteers.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
• Maintain confidentiality and professional conduct.
