Job summary

University of Minnesota Extension is hiring a full-time Extension Educator in Leadership and Civic Engagement to design, deliver, and evaluate programs for Minnesota communities. This role emphasizes leadership development, civic education, placemaking, and community conflict management across a 10-county region in southern Minnesota.

The educator collaborates with campus partners and Extension staff, develops resources for community-based tourism, and aligns education with research findings.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in fields such as community development, leadership development or studies; and/or in public or civic engagement, public policy/urban planning, community studies, sociology, education, or closely related field.
• One year of professional experience in a community development-related field; experience with higher education, Extension, or government organizations.

Responsibilities

• Deliver educational programming across multiple formats, with a focus on adult learners and collaboration with communities.
• Enhance scholarship by measuring and sharing practical knowledge through publications and presentations.
• Conduct outreach by building local and statewide partnerships and engaging diverse communities.
• Administer programs and staff development, including budget, data management, and reporting.
